- See, this is the main problem with writing "in the style of". If you write too carefully, it sounds inauthentic. If, on the other hand, you throw yourself into the character, people can't tell the difference between your parody of an idiot and an actual idiot. There's some sort of "rule" that encapsulates this concept, but I have forgotten its name. ~ BB ~ (T) ~ Mon, Jul 9 '12 4:07 (UTC)
- Exaggerating the features of the character you seek to parody generally does the trick. —Sir Socky (talk) (stalk) GUN SotM UotM PMotM UotY PotM WotM 04:22, 9 July 2012
- Debatable. ~ BB ~ (T) ~ Mon, Jul 9 '12 6:05 (UTC)
- Exaggerating the features of a character where adversaries already do so in total seriousness is problematic, as in the cases of religions and politicians. This is not the problem here, nor is this article about service-provider data lag written "in the style of." It is written by an idiot, whose main humor recourse is his own stupidity: that is, calling attention to the author rather than delivering value to the reader. Data lag--and indeed the other false promises of ISPs--is a fertile field for humor. This should be started over. Spıke Ѧ 14:23 12-Jul-12

- No! it will take much more than a photo. The huge table translates the original movie script into the supposedly censored language. You can't tell if it's a lame attempt at humor or a dry recitation of actual censored movie renditions. It is a real article, about something real, with a real comedy strategy (describe the planet in terms of cell biology) and a real hook (authentic wordplay in the intro). - I would argue that funny is funny no matter how the job gets done. We've already got articles like Martin Van Buren that do the same thing, but no one complains about them because they're funny, nearly top 10 material. Still, these types of articles are remarkably less of an epidemic than you think they are; 90% of our articles are still straight-faced wikipedia parodies. - Abstain. I would like for there to be an article, even a placeholder, on Real Madrid, which is a very notable subject for European soccer fans. But the "humor" in this article, from start to finish, is bad in textbook ways: nonsense numbers, toilet humor, and alien-species jokes--even before it descends into listcruft and with a current roster that no one is going to keep up-to-date. It does, and will continue to, attract IPs as well as non-English-speakers. Spıke Ѧ 15:35 29-Jun-12
