This page is for Uncyclopedia.ca site-related technical problems only!
If you think it may be a Wikia-related problem, well, frankly, we're not hosted on Wikia and you're on the wrong site for reporting that, but if you're determined to report a problem to Wikia, you can try Wikia:Report a problem. We have no idea if anyone's listening over there.
On the other hand, if you think it's some sort of problem with Wikipedia, and you want to report it here, to be honest, we suspect you're very confused. But if you really want to barge ahead, you can try contacting them at Wikipedia:OMG-it's-broken.

Maybe it is not a problem, but Special:AncientPages does not display many pages apart from UnNews. The links to the first two don't work as well. Anton (talk) 19:45, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

It lists based upon the date/time the page was last edited. The first three links are inaccessible - note the space in the third link - due to changes to the site structure over time. UnNews has a tendency to be predominantly unchanged since being written, while articles go through numerous changes.
So it technically does work. I have no idea what you'd want to use it for though.                               Puppy's talk page08:06 pm 25 Mar 2014
Thanks for the explanation! I didn't want to use it for anything, just thought this page needed updating. Anton (talk) 12:28, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
I am willing to edit the page header to explain this, but if it is somewhere in MediaWiki: then its name has nothing to do with Ancient. Spıke Ѧ 12:42 26-Mar-14

harassed by an admin[edit]

i put up a page about a character in teamfortress2 backupstory and one of the admis shoots me down about it because they didnot use google before my submission a page --Puncherofbears (talk) 14:37, July 27, 2014 (UTC)

More likely, the page was not FUNNY. We are more concerned here about whether a page is funny than whether it shows up on google. Please read HTBFANJS to find out more about what we consider funny around here. We are not your personal blog. Moreover, apparently there was no backstory in your page that would have clued in your reader as to the fictional identity of the character. Don't assume your reader knows everything about your favorite game. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 22:34, July 27, 2014 (UTC)

Account creation[edit]

Yo! I'm trying to create my account (User:Salvidrim), which isn't registered yet, but when trying to create it, it says it already exists. Is it triggering some spoofing check that can be bypassed? Is it conflicting with my "regular" Wikia/Wikimedia user name? 15:36, January 28, 2015 (UTC)

Also, since I probably won't be notified of your reply here, either drop me an e-mail, hit me on on Enwiki, or anywhere else really. 15:37, January 28, 2015 (UTC)
The user name database at Uncyclopedia is not shared with the rest of Wikia. If someone else has created that account name, chose another name or add a number. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 15:46, January 28, 2015 (UTC)

Change of "Daily Mail" article title[edit]

I made a minor change or two to the "Daily Mail" article, and soon afterwards received notification that its title had been changed to a nonsense word by Gmaildamn2. I tried to restore the original title myself, but found that this is done using a Move button that people see only after they've been registered for four days. I don't know what Gmaildamn2 was/is thinking, but his changes to the title look like vandalism to me. Thanks. The preceding unsigned comment was added by RoyMcCoy (talk • contribs)

Hello , im not really big user of this page but i was making some research about my fav. flying game and come to FSX game page in there ... and the cover picture shock me ... please if you can find out if thats correct and should be like showing a nazi symbols on game cover

Thank you , Mark.

Today's featured article[edit]

If there is nothing new that's worthy, I suggest to put something in that's already been featured. It looks bad and amateurish to have an error message as the first thing on the front page, and for days now. You could make up a comedy error message also, but several should be interchangeable if there are no new featured articles. Are things really that bad here? --Nigel Scribbler (talk) 05:13, October 13, 2017 (UTC)

Noted, I usually find a quasi-featured article to put up there if no articles have got to their vote quota. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:58, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
Found an article and got a front page. I am always urging regulars here to look at the featured article queue to get a response from them. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 08:19, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response! --Nigel Scribbler (talk) 13:45, October 13, 2017 (UTC)

This is the second time a video has been copied from somewhere, then posted with my persona credited: see http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Scottish_Sports . The video after "Fitba" was not added by me but is credited to me: http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Carling_Football_Ad . I believe this video exists elsewhere on Uncyclopedia under a different name, for whatever that's worth.

Since I don't have Multiple Personality Disorder, then this could not have been added accidentally, as the article entry is formatted. Note that this was done while I was online editing the article. So it looks to me like a sockpuppet can just post while someone is signed in and writing. It also looks like a sockpuppet can key in on articles being actively edited. Note that the video was added twice with apparently no changes.

In http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Negima this video was added, and not by me, although again credited to me. This was also done while I was editing the article. http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Epic_Police_Chase_on_Highway!! This also was again added twice with no apparent change. Probably the same sockpuppet.

Now I can always rollback these additions, but there is an underlying problem here, that of spoofing. This needs to be addressed ASAP. Thanks in advance for your immediate attention.

This can't be done at my end. The internet connection is hardwired and there are no other computers or humans on the connection. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 06:37, November 16, 2017 (UTC)

I will have a look. Let me know of anymore incidents like this. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 17:49, November 16, 2017 (UTC)
For the record, for anyone with a similar problem, looking back in site history, Spike explained this was due to a Wikia bot replacing content for whatever reason. A similar Wikiabot has been resident on the site replacing or substituting videos, as you know. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 08:44, June 17, 2018 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia Nederlands is SPAM ?[edit]

Nederlands Uncyclopedia linked e.g. from the main page is no longer a wiki site, let alone Uncyclopedia site. --Pykhal (talk) 10:45, November 20, 2017 (UTC)

.. is this a record – the slowest admin reaction? Maybe I forgot to mention that the link should be probably removed or fixed. --Pykhal (talk) 16:01, November 24, 2017 (UTC)
Nothing to do with us or Wikia/Fandom - judging by the link supplied. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 16:51, November 24, 2017 (UTC)

Art Bell[edit]

at least part and probably most of the article appears deleted yet the recent history shows over 13K bytes exist, much more than what seems to be there now. Recent (legit) IP edits have been made on lines that do not currently display, at least for me. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 08:37, June 17, 2018 (UTC)

The article had been hidden in view, in much the same way I left a message on your pages awhile back. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 09:12, June 17, 2018 (UTC)
Aha. Since it was partially hidden, that didn't register. Thanks! --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 09:14, June 17, 2018 (UTC)

Blank Pages[edit]

On my iPad, pages on Uncyclopedia often appear blank; the entire webpage doesn't appear, including navigation and stuff. On Safari, they are always blank and never appear. On Chrome, they sometimes appear, but I often have to switch between desktop and mobile site to make it appear. Dullbananas (talk) 21:32, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Can you give us a few examples to check? Thanks. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 22:09, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
It happens on all Uncyclopedia pages. Here is a screen recording to show exactly what is happening: https://youtu.be/TWzbFpvBrvgn Dullbananas (talk) 05:06, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
And it only happens when using the desktop site Dullbananas (talk) 15:06, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
I have tried accessing this site on an iPad in Safari. Works. I do know Chrome can be an issue on a Mac on a desktop. Will test other devices. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 16:15, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
Is it the case that this issue only comes up on Mac platforms? That's what it sounds like. Unfortunately I haven't got access to a Mac. I'm looking into setting up a VMWare MacOS box; I'm hopeful that I may be able to test that way, but what I'm seeing on the web is that VMWare MacOS on a Linux host is very hit-or-miss. (No guarantees I can help with a fix even if I can test it, of course, but if we've got mac-only problems it's worth pursuing.) -- Snarglefoop (talk) 21:24, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
We've been poking at this. Please see further discussion at Forum:Technical problems on the new website#Https. We've been getting vague but ominous vibrations from the dark corner in which Squid has been living, so for the time being it's been locked up in its tank and is no longer allowed to squirm around on the site. There is at least some small chance that this may have fixed the problems; if you could check and see we'd appreciate it. -- Snarglefoop (talk) 03:06, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
It's now working in both Safari and Chrome — Dullsig0.png Dullsig1.png 22:31, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
Good. Seems to have been caused by two broken gadgets. There are still gadgets that don't work but none that break the site. Work will continue in this area. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 22:59 5 June 2019

Math template broken[edit]

Every time I see a page with the math template, it shows "Failed to parse (Missing texvc executable. Please see math/README to configure.):" instead of the actual math. --BFDIBebble (talk) 04:24, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

While we wait for more knowledgeable people to take notice, there is, under Preferences at the top of every page (under Appearance, down at the bottom under Math), three options for the rendering of formulas. Try them all, in order to customize Uncyclopedia's output to fit your browser, and tell us if it fails in all cases. Spıke 🎙️04:30 15-Jun-19
I tried all 3 options and they don't show up properly. (screenshots: MathML with SVG or PNG fallback, LaTeX source, PNG images) --BFDIBebble (talk) 04:43, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
update: the latex option might have showed up properly. --BFDIBebble (talk) 04:50, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
The only display option I've enabled for the math extension is Mathoid/MathML. If you select something else, it probably won't work. If you have "MathML with SVG or PNG fallback" selected and it still doesn't work, there's a deeper problem. Math seems to be working ok for other people -- I don't know what the difference is here. Needs more looking into. Maybe I should enable other display options so they can actually do something. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 05:31 15 June 2019
Looks like we're missing some Tex thing. In fact I'm not even positive we've got Tex installed -- it should be but I looked just now and don't see it. Unfortunately I have to go kill a bunch of orcs that have invaded Mirabar and I won't be back until late tonight so I won't have anything further to say on this for a while. In the mean time, if you could let us know what browser/system combo you're using it might help, since this is only showing up in some cases and we haven't seen it (yet). Snarglefoop (talk) 13:53, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
Okay, there are the two "knowledgeable people" I told you to wait for! An error message that points you to an exact help file to see how to configure stuff is one step of the solution, though I wouldn't know where to look for math/README and in any case cannot reconfigure Uncyclopedia. You say "the latex option might have showed up properly," but what's shown in your illustration is not what you want; it is an output of the source code. Bottom line, several Uncyclopedia articles use <math>. I don't think it's a good idea, because it's cryptic and of niche interest to write "satire equations," but this installation should support it. Spıke 🎙️14:26 15-Jun-19
If we already have it on pages, it's better if it works properly.
It's no surprise that "LaTeX source" works, since it just displays the raw text between the <math> tags. From reading the page I linked to, it appears that you need Mathoid for MathML and texvc for PNG. Mathoid is enabled, and texvc is not. Changing my preferences to use the "PNG images" option produces the "missing texvc" error; changing it back to "MathML with SVG or PNG fallback" restores the math formulas. Why the MathML option wouldn't work for someone else, I don't know. Snarglefoop had to change his math preference away from MathML and back for math to work. If BFDIBebble reappears, I would like to ask: a) Did you try changing your preferences back to "MathML with SVG or PNG fallback" after trying the other options? b) Did you try looking at math formulas logged out, and if so, did they work? ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 22:25 24 June 2019

So you know, I've installed texvc, but I haven't gotten the PNG images option to work yet, though I've made slightly more progress with the issue on the risteq.net server (which hosts my private wiki and Wackypedia). This seems to be extremely difficult to solve, and I won't be working on it for another few days because I have limited internet access. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 21:40 13 August 2019

This is fixed. Turns out latex and dvipng were actually not there. Wow, how amazingly simple, right? I thought I'd installed them, but apparently not. Who knows. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 15:45 29 December 2019

Another math display problem[edit]

Obviously, one might suspect this is related to the above, but it does not involve templates but (apparently) html "math" tags.

In Thermodynamics, the section Thermodynamics#Social Dynamics has math that displays correctly. However, I attempted to do minor editing (added "See also" and corrected headers capitalization only) and got error messages in "preview": Social dynamics01.jpg
I did not try to save the changes and it still displays correctly for me. A problem or not? --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 01:29, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

The section above was actually about math tags, but yes, this looks like a different problem. I tried previewing the section and didn't see that. It's probably at Wikipedia's end, judging by the error message and meta.wikimedia.org being down a few minutes ago. Meta-Wiki is back up, so if it's due to Wikimedia downtime it shouldn't be happening now. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 02:14 27 June 2019
Thank you. Worksforme now. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 23:59, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Please delete my account, Un-RSCakeBomb, and its User page[edit]

I do not wish to be associated with this account anymore. I cannot log into it, because an error returns which says "An unknown error occurred." Also, "There is no email address recorded for user "Un-RSCakeBomb"." The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk • contribs)

Do you want the account re-set or deleted? --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 11:10, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
Deleted, thanks. I'm not really interested in Uncyclopedia anymore.

I have replaced your user page with {{Retired}} so as to conceal the prior page history. Your 8 edits and 3 contacts (all from me) remain. If you can't log in, no one else can either, so the account is gone. Spıke 🎙️22:09 22-Mar-21

Why?: namespace[edit]

Special:WhatLinksHere doesn't work for pages in Why?:, as the question mark seems to introduce a parameter rather than be part of the target pagename. Can we do anything about this (short of renaming the entire namespace)? Spıke 🎙️22:01 22-Mar-21

Please delete User:JohnSLSingleton[edit]

That would be me. As a request for password reset by username gets the response “There is no email address recorded for user…”, quite evidently I did not create an ID here; the user page was copied as content from Wikipedia. Please delete it. Thank you. 16:26, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
