    I think that's pretty much the gist of it. The community aspect comes into play with the voting part of VFD. That way, one person's opinion won't trump the rest of the site. I think everybody's nominated at least one article where they ended up being the only user to dislike it. In the case of QVFD, only week-old or newer rubbish articles are nommed there (see my quotes page for some examples). If an admin agrees, it is deleted on the spot.
