- Delete. This should be deleted for two reasons: (1) It used to mock British people at the start of the article. While I have no problem with this usually, this has no explanation for why British people are mocked. (2) It now mocks American people at the start of the article. I do not have a problem with this as it is justified by the above sentence. (3) It is offensive, rude, non-encyclopedic and claims that I (otherwise known as you) have never written an article which is false. It is not encyclopedic and is not funny please vote to delete. - Yikes! You deleted my comment. A good place for a comment on this stuff then. You seems sensitive that what's said here in a playful manner is actually some kind of attack on you, which is far from the truth. When I said "You should be deleted for two reasons hahahahahahahaha" I was playing, which is what we do all over the place here. It's what makes this place unique among place with threads and comments, you can play lots and not offend anybody by doing so. So by being here you will develop a thick skin over time but it will be a good skin, like a baby's thumb, and when that happens you may actually find this article pretty good! - The start is surprisingly not too bad. The list is pretty horrendous. Unfortunately the subject matter means it will be an IP magnet and that will create an ever expanding list of bollocks. But that intro would fit well in an article on something like HowTo: Survive school. - Also, Category:Pinoy Martial Law Articles (whose only proper use might be in Corazón Aquino) should become Category:Philippines martial law, as it is damned peculiar to have a category for articles contain the word Articles. 16:54 Done. Spıke Ѧ 21:15 19-Mar-13
- Two separate categories. I would vote to delete the first, but for the purposes of categorisation the second is as valid as Category:Americans, which we wouldn't refer back to Category:United States, Category:North America or Category:South America. One category refers to a people - not always of the place, but identifying with it - and the other refers to a place. For the purposes of categorisation, it's a valid sub-category of Category:Philippines. It could potentially be renamed as Category:Filipino to remove the slang aspect, however. • Puppy's talk page • 02:28 20 Mar 2013
- I found "Pinoy" was not used to differentiate residents from the nation, nor to describe content for the benefit of the general reader; but to tag an article as "our thing" for the benefit of those in-the-know. Spıke Ѧ 14:57 20-Mar-13
- Corazón Aquino is Filipino. As is University of the Philippines. Think of Pinoy as similar to Aussie or Pom as a term. I'm familiar enough with it to recognise the term, but not a topic of interest. Odds are we have other personalities mentioned who would fit the category. • Puppy's talk page • 03:22 20 Mar 2013
- What "Pinoy" means is not at issue, but rather the use of a category as a tag that this article is "cool Pinoy stuff" compared to the other articles that merely get relegated to Category:Philippines. Spıke Ѧ 14:34 23-Mar-13
- Of the 6 places that it's used, those two examples are valid uses of the category. Misuse of what is a valid category doesn't equate to a category being useless, however. The only reason I'd see to delete it would be the slang aspect, and for that I'd rename it to Filipino. But I'm still left stuck at the nomination of multiple categories for deletion as the one nomination. • Puppy's talk page • 10:09 23 Mar 2013

- I'm not a die-hard Radiohead fan, but I enjoy their first few albums. To get any of these lyrics to fit the songs takes a stretch, and even those that do aren't that funny. Smells like Nirvana by Weird Al uses a similar vehicle, but it limits to one song, and the lyrics actually makes sense. Reading through this I just get random gibberish that is barely related to the source material. I even tried to strip it down to the best example among the lot (which would have been creep imo), and even trying to stretch I'm a crepe. I'm a weird-dough, which is the closest match for I'm a creep. I'm a weirdo, fails to make me smile, or potentially be a genuine mondegreen. The only other option as a one off would be Paranoid Android (as their most commonly known song), and trying to turn when I am king you will be first against the wall/ with your opinions which are of no consequence at all into When I am Queen you will be sucking against my wall/ With your opinions which is of no funk-a-quinces doesn't gel. - Point to Aleister; nominator has the duty to make a token effort to find some quality somewhere, even during a purge of a namespace. I brought categories up to date after Aleister's mega-revert. Only the section on "tingle" seems to have no basis in reality, but maybe some of you recall something about Clarke that I don't. Spıke Ѧ 12:56 24-Feb-13
- The content is basically the same. Although it was created by an established user, it was also created in 2006. There is some content, but it could be collapsed to half a dozen quotes without losing any information. --Mn-z 13:12, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

- Keep. If we are going to have an Unquotable namespace--and, for the moment, we are--then why not have a page setting out a coherent plan for it? UnNews has several such, and they used to be helpful. Indeed policy should not be "spread across 5 or 6 pages" and if you can find a better spot at which to unify it, tell me where it went and I'll flip my vote. You might find this page a useful place to set down guidelines so that the cruft you have spent so much time editing doesn't creep back. Or we might flesh this out into deadpan praise of people's use of dead men's quotations to fluff up their unremarkable present-day rhetoric. We have found gassy text elsewhere and not deleted an entire page that otherwise has a purpose. Spıke Ѧ 10:43 23-Feb-13

- Selfish half-keep. I've hacked, trimmed, added, hacked and polished again. Without completely changing the concept, this is significantly improved. It could be more designed as twisting scripture, but that doesn't fit with the “illiterate/didn't write it” concept, which I feel has merit, and could possibly become it's own article. • Puppy's talk page • 04:34 23 Feb 2013
- "Twisting scripture" would imply that the invented quotations were actually based on something. This is the prerequisite for decent humor rather than rant--attributed to Jesus, as I say below at Hitler, not based on anything but desire for artificial melodrama. If the concept of the lists is inattention to the basis of humor, then it is not a "concept" you need to preserve. Spıke Ѧ 11:12 23-Feb-13
- There are two ways to do a page like this that make sense. One is to try and make the quotes as near to that original as possible. The second is to take the character of the subject and create quotes that fit with a parody of the character. This is a parody of the person, rather than a parody of sayings attributed to him. • Puppy's talk page • 11:47 23 Feb 2013

- The coding of Unquotable:MainArticleList (which is used as template) is horrible, generating different content on different pages because there is a different section of code for each page the template appears on. --Mn-z 20:17, February 23, 2013 (UTC)
- Horrible indeed! The template ("tricked out" in the ever-self-congratulatory words of Some user) special-cases itself based on who its caller is, to give each caller the "elegance" of calling the same, single template to achieve radically different effects! - @ puppy if we need an article on Obfuscata, which would be a valid subject, it should be at Obfuscata, not as a clone of a random navigation page. This article makes about as much sense as running Newtis Newtfield through a Swedish Chef translator and calling it the Svedeesh Noot. --Mn-z 17:16, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that we should have an article at Obfuscata but the closest we have is at Obfuscation. I think this quotable page is a good example of Obfuscata, and we don't have an article at Obfuscata about the style of writing, so this should stay, at least until someone writes the Obfuscata page. You may consider this a challenge to write said page, if you like. Also, if someone ran Newtis Newtfield through a Swedish chef translator and called it the Sveedeesh Noot that would be funny. But I think that since it does mention former Uncyc admins in the story, it does deserve a place in Unquotable as Uncyc history. The best history is an eyewitness account of what occurred told by someone who was there, plus the thought process which went into the situations described.
