  • Not short, not random, not entirely unfunny. The page title fails; it is dryly clinical and doesn't look like anything you want to read. The humor concept exists: national stereotypes of Asians as either manic or terminally lazy. (Did you forget Latin America?) Casting it as a disease is trite.   • Actually, Dexter makes a good point - I brought them here as a bulk because like a game and its subpages, they make next to no sense on their own, and deleting some without the rest would be arbitrary at best, but unlike a game and its subpages, a user may be less inclined to actually look at these, since the template really is a separate affair. Hells, people don't always look at game subpages, for that matter. On the other hand... there are a lot of them...

  1. So let me get this straight, the two people who want to delete this don't have flash. Go figure. Look, this isn't just some vanity youtube video, it was made specifically for uncyclopedia. Don't deprive other people of good tasteless comedy just because you don't have flash and feel left out. This is no different than A wizard or euroipods. It's not like no work went into it. A whole shitload of work went into it. Don't believe me? You try downloading a video off of youtube, converting it into a different program, recording your own audio, syncing that audio with the video, recording a second audio of the baby chicks making their various little sounds, synching that with the video, exporting it, and then converting it back into a video that youtube can use. Yes, the idea of embedding a YouTube video in an Uncyclopedia frame is weird, since the material is technically over there, not here, and so it doesn't feel like a contribution to the wiki so much as a pointer to a contributor's "other work." But unless we have another place to upload videos (can Wikimedia host them??), it's just going to have to be YouTube. And excluding the video format entirely just isn't good for the project.   • Jack - so who decides policy? Who upholds policy? Who changes policy? Ultimately, the admins are just other users with a few extra tools and a whole lot more hassle; it's up to the lot of the folks, both sorts, to come to some sort of consensus or the entire thing falls apart. Yes, banning the naysayers or leaving angrily in a huff or whatnot are ways to come to a consensus, but... can't ban everyone.
    My point in nominating this, however, is not related to policy or effort, as I cannot speak to either. Indeed, it is a fine video, and fitting the ideas of Uncyclopedia, but that doesn't mean it belongs here as the entirety of a stand-alone article, either. If it indeed stands alone, then can it not do that where it is? This is a wiki, not a frame for our personal media - even UnTunes have more than just audio media on the pages. As I see it, like images in general, videos can make useful components in articles, or what passes for articles around here, but also like images, just pasting one on a page all by its lonesome does not make for an article.

    I believe it happens when someone re-creates the page, either by grabbing the code before it's huffed (Hurry!), or asking an Admin to grab it from the backup tape and put it in your userspace. Spıke Ѧ 14:03 13-Feb-11

    Fix it up in your userspace, then dump it back in when funny. (Using this technique to return a page substantially identical to what was VFD'd would be being a dick.) I've returned a couple of pages to mainspace after VFD, most recently Slot car (slightly renamed). The alternative, fixing an existing page before it can be deleted, retains the change history, which should be done (with page retrieved by an Admin) if you are doing less than a total rewrite.   • Comment: Going back over the archives, a few people will have noticed that I flagged bringing obviously obsolete categories was less desirable. Did the decision over this really require seven/(now nine) contributers to vote on this? I ask again that categories are not brought up here unless there are "real" grounds for doing so.     • Since when did we have a rule against bringing categories to VFD? And unless I'm mistaken, poopsmiths don't have the authority to create such a rule. It appears the admins are counting category nominations as valid, since they are voting as normal, not invaliding the nominations, and not telling me to take them somewhere else. Until an admin says otherwise, I'm going to continue assuming that categories nominations are valid.

      Yes!! This is very confusing and needs a policy ruling beyond what Sycamore is telling us. For example, I personally hate Category:Axis of Evil-Doers. I hate it so much that I nominated it for deletion five months ago, where it survived, 6-5. Am I now being told I have the right to "scoop it out," to remove it not only from mainspace but from userpages, and QVFD it? Because it looks like that is what I'm being told, even though I strongly suspect such a thing would get me banned for dickery. WE NEED A POLICY.       That would be a policy. And if that's the policy, I'm happy with it. But I don't want a situation where if you take a cat to VFD, the poopsmiths get angry, and if you scoop out a cat and take it to QVFD, the admins get angry, and if you take a cat to the lounge, you get angry because no one actually does anything.       Yes, we should have a policy. We are in two camps; one says that any category created out of a good sense of humor should survive on that basis; the other camp says that categories should not be the humor, they should direct you to the humor without stealing the show, and categories that fail to perform that function should be deleted. "Now, you may be asking yourself, "Who gives a damn?" asks the second sentence of the intro, before launching into a rant against the reader.
