The Commonwealth is a civilization that was established sometime in early 2011, by former U.S. President William Milton, shortly after the outbreak of a zombie making virus. Although starting out as a democracy, after the death of William, his daughter, Pamela Milton reformed the government into a dictatorship similar to that of Nazi Germany. Since she was so uncreative, she also gave herself the title of Governor, stealing the idea from Phillip Blake, the former Governor of Woodbury, who was killed when he went to help some people living in a prison, and was stabbed through the chest by an African-American woman with a sword.

Formation[edit]

Formed after the collapse of the United States government, The Commonwealth was formed as a safe haven for those that survived the zombie apocolypse. Situated in Ohio, four giant walls (whose blueprints were found after the Trump administration) block the outside world to those living peacefully inside. Unlike similar civilisations, namely FEDRA, who use ration cards as currency, The Commonwealth continue to use the U.S. dollar to purchase food and goods.

The Commonwealth started with a democratic, and fair government — despite no actual elections being held, as a year prior, President William Milton had already won. After his death, his daughter became President, with once again, no election being held because it seemed like a good idea at the time according to the people, and having a reigning monarch was already established in one other camp.

Not wanting to sound pretentious, President Pamela Milton changed the title to Governor — as it sounded "cooler." With this, Governor Milton remodelled her new appointed government after that of Germany during World War II, and the Commonwealth Army after the German special forces at that time also.

Commonwealth Army[edit]

Armour[edit]

Due to being a huge sci-fi nerd, Governor Milton modelled the Commonwealth Army after the Imperial Stormtroopers from the Star Wars franchise. Despite issues involving getting the materials to make the armour, due to all the undead zombies walking over the place, and a few budget cut-backs, the Commonwealth soldier armour was not blaster or lightsaber proof, but was able to stop a walker from biting the human wearing the armour — which most claimed was more important than preventing fictional weapons from harming their troopers.

While stealing the overall look of Stormtroopers, the trooper armour also included arm fins, in which the blueprints for them were stolen from the Batcave — after Bruce Wayne fled the planet to go live on Mars while the whole pandemic blew over. The Commonwealth troopers also asked for capes, but were denied after testing concluded that capes were just not practical in the zombie apocalypse.

Commonwealth General Mercer was given orange and black armour, as opposed to the regular white and red armour colour scheme. This proves that orange really is the new black.

Weaponry[edit]

The main weapon used by the Commonwealth Army was the FN FNC, which was later scrapped for the standard AR-15, when it was pointed out that no American or Canadian military or police force has ever used a FN FNC. Additionally, the AR-15's used by Commonwealth soldiers are fitted with knifes, stealing the idea from the Australian army and their love for bayonets even way into the 2020s.

The Alexandrian War[edit]

The war started when Alexandrian leader, Rick Grimes, blew up a bridge, and was kidnapped by the Civic Republic Military. The CRM then proceded to blame the kidnapping on The Commonwealth, where the alliance of Alexandria, Hilltop Kingdom, and Oceanside declared war on the Commonwealth. However, since the troopers that made up the Commonwealth Army had cool armour, those in Alexandria decieded to change sides, with Daryl Dixon and Rosita joining the CW.P.D. as Detectives for some extra rations.

When Maggie, the five-star general of the Hilltop Kingdom, launched a counter attack after being raided by the Commonwealth SWAT team for suspected drug trade, the Alexandrians that had moved to the Commonwealth once again switched sides, claiming that they were "undercover the whole time." With sleeper agents now inside the Commonwealth, and comic-book Rick Grimes appearing, the war was seemingly won after Rick arrested Governor Milton and gave a speech.

New leadership[edit]

After the Alexandrian War, and the imprisonment of Pamela Milton, Rick of house Grimes took over as Governor, but changed the title to just Rick, considering that out of both Governors he has ran into since the apocalypse started, one cut off his hand, while the other was just a paranoid schizophrenic. With this, Rick Rick Grimes gave an inspiring speech to the remaining populus of The Commonwealth. It was so good that work on a statue of their new great Rick was started immediately. Later that night, however, Sebastian "Sebby" Milton, broke into Rick's apartment and murdered Grimes in his sleep, and allowed the now deceased Rick reanimate into a walker. In the morning, Carl Grimes found his father as a walker, and put him down. In the following days, Sebby was arrested, Carl grew a beard, the virus flew off, and Maggie Rhree was appointed the new Rick of the Commonwealth.

Famous landmarks[edit]

Haunted house[edit]

The haunted house attraction is one of the more well known locations within the Commonwealth. Its signature mascot, a blood hungry walker, is so realistic that it scared Judith Grimes and nearly caused Daryl Dixon to piss his pants — which would have been most unfortunate since he only owns one pair.

Rick Grimes statue[edit]

The stone monument depicting survival legend, Rick Grimes, is subject to whether or not that it really exists. Book nerds claim that the statue is real, and that it was erected when Grimes freed the Commonwealth from the Milton dictatorship. However, those that watch television, claim the contrary, saying that Rick never even made it to the Commonwealth in the first place, and that the evil villain, Scott M. Gimple, commonly known as the Showrunner, killed Grimes sometime in early Season 9, making a statue of him irrelevant, as well as the time gap in the Season 11 finale not hinting, nor showing, a statue of the great Rick Grimes.

Carol's bakery[edit]

The Estates[edit]

If the Commonwealth were to ever get overran with the undead, troopers and the elite gather here to survive — while everyone else can spend the rest of their lives playing music by banging on the gates to get in. That is, unless, Maggie, Negan, Gabriel, and Daryl open it and say the name of the show.
