Collegium V
Expanded after most votes had been cast; resubmit if desired --—rc (t) 03:57, 25 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Dormitory V.A.I.N.ity? I've given them a friendly warning, but they seem to be updating without heeding or even wanting to discuss it. --Marcos_Malo OUN S7fc BOotS Bur. | Talk 09:42, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- It is a satellite article of University of Texas at Dallas. It seems mostly a collection of inside jokes. However, if uncyclopedia ever becomes complete, every school will have an entry full of such a collection. It is arguable whether this is desirable. (Workin on that laziness boss!) ~Spl
- UtarEmpire has set the standard on college-related articles with his series under the category of Wheeling Jesuit University. This article doesn't even come close. Which is why we shouldn't just delete it. We should delete the hell out of it'. And possibly vandalize it first. ~MM
Hmm, I keep missing when there is a discussion on pages. Anyway, this article is decidedly unfunny pretty much. Both it and University of Texas at Dallas need serious scrapping and recreation. Perhaps some of you should state if any parts at all are funny, tell us why the rest aren't, and then let us rework the UTD page to fit with uncyclopedia. --Xerika 18:21, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- The funny part is the "Have you seen this Cat" poster on the U-Dallas page. Although it's not that funny, and it's hard to tell if it's original. Other than that, they stink of vanity, and I vote both for speedy chopping. For it to be funny, it has to make someone like me laugh who's never been to and knows nothing about the school. 18:54, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I think that the people here should either wait a while to see how it developes. Since those working on it are all full time college students, they can only work on this in their free time. The article has been around less than a week and you want to get rid of it. The Wheeling Jesuit University article took almost a month to write, and I'm guessing that the writer did not have to worry about college, high school, work, or has one of those boring jobs where the only way to keep your sanity is to mess around on the internet. Collegium V and the University of Texas at Dallas is just the first college to get around to adding itself to Uncyclopedia. No other college has gotten around to this yet, or they fell past the eyes of the 31 admins. Almost everything can be construed as an inside joke, and if you wish the site to expand, you would have to accept the fact that some inside jokes will appear on the page.--Brephophagia 20:34, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- That assumes that we really want all the colleges in the world adding themselves to Uncyclopedia. Personally, I'm not keen on it. For one, the chance that we'll get really good articles is low. While they may be kickass for the people who know that college, there's a fair chance that nobody else will get it. We shoot for fairly wide accessibility in our articles here. Secondly, I don't want to deal with all the petty flame wars and vandalizations which are guarenteed to happen if we get a bunch of different colleges leaving their marks here.
- As a comparison, the bulk of the Wheeling Jesuit University is written in the style of a historical writeup on the campus. The bulk of CV reads like a vanity page. UTD is a list of random facts with no flow or internal consistency. If you can give these pages some internal consistencey and make them amusing, do it up. I laugh when reading the WJU page. I have to constantly remind myself that instantly deleting the other two would be in bad form when I read them. 22:45, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- What is your target audience anyway? Also, I'm going to be talking with Xerika and Brephophagia on how to get these pages in better form--D3matt 00:59, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Target audience is Sir Elvis, UK; myself, Northern New England; Rcmurphy, California. That is, we want 95% of our articles to be accessible to 95% of the people who pop in here, regardless of where they are from. While some articles will definitely blow by some people, the goal is to have moderately-educated people piss themselves laughing. A good number of us know about college in general. However, I'd bet that few people here know wtf Collegium V is. I googled for it because I was trying to judge the article.
- Right now, the CV page is just so random it's hard to tell what's going on. If it instead promoted Collegium V as the newest major at UTD, (wizardy, due to Harry Potter's popularity) and was all about explaining what the major is and on how hard the classes for it are, we might not be having this discussion. That might be pretty damn funny, and it would, if done well, indicate to non-familiar readers that it is at least a set of courses. At the moment, it's hard to tell if it's a fraternity, a bit of student housing, or a campus club. 22:01, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I'm working on some changes to some of this page and the UTD page. I too will work with Xerika and Brephophagia to improve the broad appeal of the page. Give us a chance to make this have some broader appeal.|Trogdor
- Hey - that's why we put pages here and talk about them, if they are more than a single line of crap. It lets folks like you speak out, and spare the article in question. Had you not, it would have been deleted about a week ago. As it is, your fillibuster here allows your page to live on and on. It's really quite impressive. I'm just hoping that after all this time, effort, and debate, it's funny enough to keep. ;) 23:47, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Irredemable. Most of this anon author's contributions happen to be pretty homophobic tripe. Gay rights activists have been successful at such endeavours as making pederastry an alternative lifestyle, and bringing STD's to the public. Kept --—rc (t) 05:22, 12 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I’m restoring the VFD entry, but I am voting to KEEP it. I am copying some comments I placed on the QVFD. The article is actually pretty funny for the mathematician. It’s very wrong. It perhaps just requires a mathematics PhD to understand it completely. It reminds me of the joke:
- A graduate student is taking a topology oral exam. The professor asks: “Can you give an example of a compact set?” The student answers, “The real numbers?” The professor pauses for a moment. The professor slowly says, “OK. In which topology?”
This is really quite hilarious—if somewhat esoteric. --KP CUN 21:02, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- There's a joke about an engineer and a mathematian and something to do with infinite dimension, wish I could remeber it.
I also found it really funny... no need for all the articles to be understandable by everyone. Plus someone (maybe even I) will expand it in the future. --Pietro 05:11, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'm no mathematician but I agree with Pietro that not every article needs to be understandable by everyone. However, maybe there could be footnotes to explain this particular article for non-mathematicians like me? --Ogopogo 05:16, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I think we need an award for this article. The amount of education required to produce this juvenile nonsense was exceedingly high. There are a few articles on Uncyclopedia that are as well-researched as any you might see on Wikipedia. --KP CUN 05:30, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Award of Confusion! Apparently this article is damned funny. It is not an inside joke or vanity page, but you pretty much need a PhD to get it. Or so we've been told, most of us seem to prefer humour involving masturbation and/or Jesus. The author may have been masturbating over a picture of Jesus. You can send him to hell by giving him an atomic fisting. This is both an award and a warning, direct as used. |

- keep The Riemann hypothesis is notorious in math circles. Mathematicians have been working on the problem for over a century. Somebody's actually offered $1 million USD to anybody who can prove it. (Hmm...if somebody wanted to make this article a bit more accessible, one could summarize the real life history of the prize and then speculate on highly unlikely scenarios that could occur after a math genius gets a million dollars.) --Hessef 07:19, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'm proposing the deletion of the Riemann hypothesis (lower-case h) because I've merged this material with Riemann Hypothesis (upper-case H) pretty much verbatim, which makes the former redundant. Maybe it could link to the latter, I don't know how to do that. --Pietro 15:36, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)
It's too late now, but I'm going to redundantly vote to keep this. I originally put it in the quickVFD, thinking it was the work of some confused and humourless PhD student, but I'm an idiot. I agree that it's good to have some material that goes over most people's heads, but for stuff as cryptic as this, the ingenious Award of Confusion should be used. --Carlos the Mean 02:02, 12 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Keep I absolutely agree that Kevin Smith isn't funny (wait, did you mean the actor/director or the Uncyc page? Doesn't matter, they're both lame), but I see no particular reason to delete this image if other people, evidenced by VFP, like it. --Rcmurphy KUN 01:18, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

- I do think it's lame. And overused. But I'm not the only person here. A lot of people like Kevin Smith's tripe films so I'm willing to vote to keep an image that a lot of people may find amusing. Look, I don't think some of the nominated articles are funny either, but I probably won't VFD them because even if I don't like them, I know some people do. Replace with notice Ok, I am getting annoyed (and it is hard to annoy me), I think the page should be protected and replaced with a notice, for several reasons:
- The page is full of links pointing to uncyclopedia namespace for each user (when it should probably point to user: namespace, and only for the registered users), and those pages keep getting created and then deleted (because they are zero content vanity mostly, and themselves get vandalized).
- The users have caused problems, in some extreme cases blanking articles and admin user pages (darwin awards for them).
- Vanity vandalizing other articles that are linked on their page, and possibly creating pages in the User namespace for nonexistant users (I am not sure).
- They Removed the VFD notice' Indicating their disregard for us.
I think it should be replaced with a notice similar to: "This page has been deleted, for abuse of Uncyclopedia. We realize that not everyone who has participated in this page has done so, but many users here have contributed to the direct or indirect distruption of the Uncyclopedia project, ranging from simply linking to nonexistant pages that others inadvertantly create, to wholesale blanking and ban earning. If you would like a whole wikiproject of your own, please see the wikicities homepage for information on creating your own wikiproject for free." And then after such is created we can replace the page with a shorter notice and point the users to the new wikicity. Thoughts? --Splaka Bur. SG CM © 03:57, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Unwikify the names at least. That sort of thing breeds moronic one-liner vanity pages. I personally couldn't care less if the page was deleted outright, but I won't vote for a delete because it might become a decent page. --Rcmurphy KUN 04:05, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
