OK. This right here is the final forum post pertaining to the VFH shift that will occur unless something major presents itself. As you may or may not be aware, I proposed a new form of VFH a while ago to help combat stagnation. It has gone through multiple permutations, and with substantial help from Spang has become User:Ljlego/VFH. While the original goal of stagnation prevention is less prominent here, I believe this new code for VFH will be beneficial for many reasons.

  1. The box at the top takes all the guesswork out of nominating a page, which will allow noobs to nominate without royally fucking up the page.
  2. The presentation is much nicer than it was previously.
  3. The new summary page allows you to see all nominations and their status in an easy list, and to sort said list by score, nomination age, or nominator.
  4. We can protect the VFH main page now so any stupidity can be averted before it happens.
  5. Load times are down.
  6. Archiving is automatic, and is easy to find an article's nomination.

However, we would like to get one final consensus, and also answer the only remaining question; should we use the page linked above or the summary page as the front of the project page. We welcome any comments and (if necessary) suggestions.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 03:07, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

  6. I am for the much nicer looking page and also believe that the summary should be the main. If not, it should be gotten rid of and its content integrated with the nominations page. --vyvyan 03:26, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

  10. Use the voting page as the main one, because people will expect to be able to vote when they link to VFH. Also: I think it's unnecessary and confusing to put the total number of voters for each article in brackets after the score/for/against on the summary page. Sir Roger 05:32, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
  11. For trying out the summary page. One question... nomination subpages remain after articles fail VFH? What happens when an article is renominated? —rc (t) 05:37, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Previous nominations stay as-is, and renominations must be named "Article (nth nomination)". -- Mitch Icons-flag-au.png 06:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Actually, the nomination page itself can be called anything you like, as long as the article parameter in the template is correct. Spang talk 04:09, 09 Jul 2007

  18. For It's come a long way guys - very well done. I think per my policy of absolute minimum amount of clicking that the main page should be the default. If I was a n00b looking at the summary page, at a glance I'd have no idea how to see what other people had written, and all the figures and links and stuff are a bit overwhelming. Established users can just change their VFH button by javascript, so it's not really about them so much. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 10:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

It would not be possible in what is currently the main page. However, in the summary page, I suppose it is possible if you moved the "mark as voted on" to a separate column, etc etc. I don't know, though. For the summary, yeah no, that'd be possible impossible. Though that particular column doesn't have a title, so it might look a little odd. But what the hey. And it should only remember voted/not voted for as long as your browser remembers your web history. Does it forget as soon as you leave the page, or later on? I might have to disable that in browsers that don't do it right if it's problematic. Spang talk 01:14, 12 Jul 2007
Oops, just realised that that would in fact be impossible, as it is currently. Spang talk 01:36, 12 Jul 2007
It only remembers for as long as I stay at that page. That is to say, not at all. If I go somewhere else, then come back, it's forgotten about me and is sleeping with someone else. VFH is a whore. Whore! /me throws all her stuff on the front lawn. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 02:22, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Gents, I'm impressed, the new system is a gem. You should patent it and sell it to the other guys. Those with the "correct" and "current" information and stuff. ~Jewriken.GIF 17:28, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Minor Issue

The only issue that I have with the spiffed up new system is that, since new pages are created for entries, watchlists are alerted when those pages are updated. I like having a page that is bolded with every update, regardless of whether or not I've voted on the article. Not a major issue by any stretch, but is there some sort of code that could link Uncyclopedia:VFH to the newly created vote pages for watchlist purposes? Its cool either way (and perhaps there is an inherent remedy for this that I haven't discovered); I just don't want to get sidetracked at some point, neglect VFH, and miss those vital opportunities to falsely inflate my ego make my opinion count! :) --THINKER 01:20, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Er, I don't think so. You could manually watch every page, but other than that, I think you're outta luck. Sorry.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 01:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, that's not possible. The closest thing to that would be the related changes page for vfh. It's like recent changes, but just for things linked to by vfh. So it would also show changes to actual articles that are currently nominated, but if you bookmark that page it might be close to what you want. Spang talk 01:42, 12 Jul 2007
Damn, I wish I could watch that related changes page. Oh well, no worries. --THINKER 01:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
