Okay, I think we finally need to tackle the whole Benson issue head on. Without further comment on his actions, or those of his followers, we need to vote on the problem.

And um, one vote only please!

For your information, the section on "Vote to ban Benson, remove BHOP, etc. (Complete and utter destruction)" has been archivedto the bottom of this page, because there was a resounding keep consensus. Please feel free to add your vote to the other sections, and discuss alternatives.

BHOP is just fine with me. I check it for laffs when there's nothing interesting on the real forum. Why mess with it? Shit, as long as the "BENSON is the Titty-Nipple of Brahma" nonsense stays off the real forum I don't care if it infests BHOP. Let's work on a policy here.

Like I said, there should be a restriction on all Benson related activity to this forum. This means no more Benson stuff in the off topic forum. However, I would like a link from the off topic forum to the new Benson forum so people know where to go. Any posting about Benson or in caps in any other forum warrants a warning the first time (because people might not know about that policy), and a one day ban for every subsequent time. But no one ever gets permabanned for doing this unless they are a constant disruption, which it seems to not be. --Crazyswordsma n...With SAVINGS!!!! Ban, remove, and prohibit the mention of his name anywhere. Benson is worthless to uncyclopedia, which gains nothing from him, while he and his followers generate notable amounts of trouble while distracting others from making this site better. They are nothing but a drain on uncyclopedia and do not deserve protection. Being a UGotM means you have held as close to the banstick as you could without getting hit with it, and that's what he and his followers, who emulate him, do constantly. Keep. Just because something is irritating to you, it doesn't mean it should be banned. A judgement was made some time ago about the forumcruft, and it was dealt with by moving it to BHOP. The only offence I've seen Benson himself be guilty of was the sockpuppeting, which he has received his punishment for. Articles about him and his "cult" are vanity though, and should be either huffed or relegated to BHOP, as I want this wiki to be as inclusive as possible for new users, and not just another internet community plagued by in-jokes. Keep. The problem is not with Benson, nor BHOP, but his obsessive fanboys. We need comic relief and a forum for pure silliness. If we're going to ban anyone (and I'm not), it should be the users who treat him like the second coming of J.C. and expect the rest of us to climb onboard like it's serious. Keep. He doesn't actually do any real harm, in terms of Drama and users leaving, etc. Certain followers can be a bit of a pain but it's always been under the surface till now, and with the main problem gone I think there should only be a problem with the users who have... well, always disliked him. So long as Bensonites keep Benson in his church, and don't deliberately seek trouble, it should be fine - he's useful against twattery and doesn't, in himself, do any harm. -- 20:28, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
