Amy, Sally, and Mina
Truly a treasure relic of the cringey late '00s Internet, Amy, Sally, and Mina is a band consisting of... Amy Rose, Sally Acorn, and Mina the Mongoose. The three Sonic the Hedgehog characters first put their differences aside and dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil singing in a deviantART parody from 2008 written by a bored emo teenager. It didn't get much traction (only having, like, one favourite) until one day a year later, when a bored nerdy child stumbled across it and couldn't get enough of it. However, they had no social skills and/or a life, resulting in years of accidental harassment until they were able to get a grip and leave this Internet nobody alone. Now, all grown up and disheveled, this child seeks to make this Christian and the Hedgehog Boys counterpart a big name (fanonically), usually regretting it due to the experience. Sucks, because they're actually pretty good.
The Three[edit]
Amy Rose[edit]
12 8 years old, Amy Rose is a spastic, childlike pink hedgehog who just so happens to act like Gilda Radner. She's still in her Classic design because it's just better than the new version (which is from 20+ years ago.) Amy likes to listen to old music, like the Ronettes and the Crystals, which influenced the group's sound, even though the lyrical content is more like the Shangri-Las. Of course, Amy is also Sonic's self-proclaimed girlfriend, but that goes for Sally and Mina too. In old pictures of the band, Amy was commonly shown on guitar, even though she has no musical experience whatsoever besides singing.
Sally Acorn[edit]
Sally Acorn is a caustic chipmunk who is vaguely similar to Jane Curtin. She loves rock music like Shonen Knife and Metric. Sally writes all the group's songs, teaching a Spice Girls motif of taking time to actually get to know each other before becoming friends. Sally also leads a group called the Freedom Fighters, though they're bland and boring (especially the walrus.) In old drawings, Sally somehow played a tambourine, even though she denies ever doing that.
Mina the Mongoose[edit]
Mina the Mongoose is a timid mongoose who was "Based on" Laraine Newman. Though she does not have a long face or Jewish heritage, Mina has the singing voice down pat, because she's the only girl in the group who had prior singing experience. She is notable for rarely getting main roles in the group's songs. Mina listens to pure diabetic pop, like Katy Perry, Kero Kero Bonito, and Anamanaguchi, and also leads a group called the Knothole Knuts, who definitely aren't angry at her for abandoning them in favour of this foolishness. In old drawings, Mina played drums, even though she can only whistle aside from singing (and I'm sure the group's writer doesn't know how to do that.)
Their Songs[edit]
Amy, Sally, and Mina are known for never releasing anything. Sonic, Sonic has been their only hit so far. New songs take forever to write. Their only other song so far has been a cover of Michael Jackson's Thriller, with a wild rapper in the form of (absolutely, positively, 110% NOT recycled audio of) Hunnid Pacent. Lyrics of possible, better songs have shown up on their manager's deviantART account. An album has been on hiatus ever since 2018.
However, in June 2024, a new song suddenly appeared in the form of "Hang On, Sonic," a parody of an old '60s song that was based on a parody heard in a Cedar Point commercial. Where the fuck does their writer come up with these things?
Back in 2014, their songs sounded like a mish mash of words that just so happened to rhyme. Nothing made sense. Even Bill Wurtz wrote better songs than them. Of course, given their poor writer was 11 at the time, they evolved.
The formula for Amy, Sally, and Mina songwriting[edit]
- It has to be a pop tune (NOT today's Skrillshit, but '60s music.)
- When we said, "'60s music," we mean it has to be a Ronettes/Crystals style thing.
- But wait! Unlike the Ronettes or Crystals, all three girls get solo lines.
- Spoken dramatic sequences a la the Shangri-Las
- Comedy elements (since they are appearing on Sonic Night Live, after all)
- Has to be hammed up so much, people will report they fake-emoted. Except for Sally. She sings deadpan. But of course, she ends up emoting so much, Nelly's roof gets set on fire.
- If you don't have any idea of what they can sing about, then please refer to '60s girl group fansites. If you STILL have no idea, then let them cover a well-known Sonic vocal tune, which is how they make their monies nowadays.
- On writing style, the ASM Style Guide notes "You have to add who sings the line before the line itself. Here's how you do it: "Amy: ________", "Sally: ______", "Mina: _____", and "Group: ____". ("Group" is them singing together.)"
- On the use of tildes, the guide notes "Include tildes. ("~") This is how you use them. "Amy/Sally/Mina/Group: ____~!/?" or simply "Amy/Sally/Mina/Group: _____~"."
Amy, Sally, and Mina's dictionary[edit]
- "-ing" must be "-in'." NO EXCEPTIONS, except for "nothing."
- Switch "the" with "that" for added coolness. Ex. "the phone" = "that phone."
- DEPARTMENT OF REDUNDANCY DEPARTMENT!! Ex. why "Can" when you can say, "Bottle can?" Don't just settle for "Now," say, "Now, nowadays!" It fits with the tempo.
- Contractions to the highest degree. "What are you" = "Whatya." 20% COOLER!!
