The power of an old joke logo of the British based Greggs bakery left here by English peasant some years back turns into a Twitter storm, thanks to Google ranking it as their top image for the company. It was done by linking to Uncyclopedia's original spoof image here.

and not forgetting this journal of record:-

or this

To avoid a hail of stale legal sausage rolls coming this way, it has since been replaced on this site. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 08:21, August 20, 2014 (UTC)

Should we have an UnNews on the topic? As I know this is our usual response to events of this kind... Anton (talk) 11:29, August 20, 2014 (UTC)
Hmmm. It's an idea. I wonder if that will be classified as Navelism? --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 11:34, August 20, 2014 (UTC)
This is obviously the big news of the UnSignpost fortnight, however long that is now. To paraphrase Gerber Foods, "Navelism is our business, our only business." Clear Page One! Great Caesar's Ghost!
I hope that the wise decision to stay with the clean version and not risk a replay with lawyers like those of Fisher-Price will buy us a follow-up story, at least in Bakery Info. Romartus has been eager to admit he is not the original artist, and a few Emails to the Editor tweets might get us even more press. Authors are welcome to say that Greggs sells "Shit to Scum" but ought not tweak the Greggs logo to make it look as though they said it. Spıke Ѧ 12:29,12:43 20-Aug-14
I wanted to make it clear in the historical record, I did not use photoshop with that woman logo. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 13:34, August 20, 2014 (UTC)

UnNews:Uncyclopedia to replace Wikipedia in Google searches is a great UnNews, Romartus! Anton (talk) 13:50, August 21, 2014 (UTC)

I know the guy who uploaded the original logo, and wrote the article, which has happily lived on this site for four years. I can't believe that our one chance to get a lot of free publicity, and potential new users has just been shot down because of a lack of testicular fortitude. I seriously doubt that Greggs, who it has to be said have acted in good humour in responding to this today, would even consider legal action. I'm interested to hear who made the executive decision to remove the image, as I can't seem to see any discussion on the matter. Clearly someone should edit the Special Notice to read "Uncyclopedia is world news! But sadly we pussied out"... -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

Also, legal matters is Wikia's business and I don't think we should do anything about them. Anton (talk) 21:53, August 20, 2014 (UTC)
We got the publicity Mhaille, that is why I posted the links. Regards the logo, we could have waited for Wikia to have removed it on the same grounds they received the complaint from Fisher Price regards their logo copyright infringement awhile back. The article itself remains unchanged. Perhaps Greggs would have done something or nothing we don't know which is why it has been locked for now to prevent an edit war on that particular image. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 22:30, August 20, 2014 (UTC)
I think it would have been better to wait to see if something actually happened from this, from what I've seen of the delightful amount of good publicity, and good humour, from and for Greggs out of this I seriously doubt any action (or even a complaint) would have been instigated. As I said earlier that image had existed on this site for 4 years without issue. Is it now policy for Uncyclopedia that anything that might cause offense to corporate or business entities, or indeed individuals will now be purged from the site, just in case Wikia might receive a complaint in the future? -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Answer to "Is it now policy for Uncyclopedia that anything that might cause offense to corporate or business entities" is no Mhaille. It was just the logo as regards a potential copyright infringement issue as outlined above. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 05:27, August 21, 2014 (UTC)
So we'll be deleting all images that contain elements of "potential" copyright infringement, such as the ones here or here or here? I'd just like to have verification that we are now no longer allowed to use any images on the site with "potential" copyright infringement, and where that actually leaves a satire website that seeks to parody things like companies and their products? Is there to be a site-wide removal of all images with this "potential"? I've looked for details "as outlined above" but can't see anything that would mean this would be limited to just images, I'm no "legal guy" but I'm pretty sure that things like Company Name and Product Names are trademarked and copyrighted, so again, I'd just like confirmation as to the new policy for dealing with "potential" copyright infringement. Its better to be safe, than funny. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
I understand your point Mhaille. I spoofed Tesco's sign with 'Every Little Pony Helps' awhile back. I think if the logo looks similar but isn't, we would be fine. I have asked Sannse if they have received any notification from Greggs as regards the logo. Because of the recent experience with Fisher Price, you could say we erred on the side of caution here. Especially considering the business of image censorship and warning signs on this site which were such as issue in 2012-2013 and helped fuel the resulting schism. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 09:18, August 21, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks to Google listing Wikia (and hence this site) as 'reliable'. I am also named checked for the said logo too which is funny to read as I can see a lot of coverage is a copy and paste from the original story. Overall, it boosted traffic here. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 12:11, August 21, 2014 (UTC)
Update from Evil HQ. Contact was made regards the alternative Greggs logo. It would have been 'disappeared' from this site on the same grounds as the Fisher Price logo copyright issue. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 12:54, August 22, 2014 (UTC)
Belated update to the update from Evil HQ. Romartus misunderstood. We didn't even have a discussion about whether to remove the logo, because the admins here had already dealt with it by the time we heard anything. We may be Evil, but even we have to have the opportunity to be evil before we actually are. Thanks for listening -- 64.71.157.42 22:15, August 29, 2014 (UTC)
Sannse, I assume? ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 02:03 30 August 2014
Yes, she didn't log in but you can see her message on my talk page.--Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 09:04, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
Indeed we did! though I really have no right to use 'we', because I was one of your enemies for so long. (Didn't Jesus say to love your enemies?) To think the forkers were planning to manufacture publicity for themselves, and you lot actually came by it honestly... serves them right. I suppose I shouldn't say such things, but it is ever so tempting. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs 15:50, August 22, 2014 (UTC)
Hahaha, hi llwy. What's up? Cat the Colourful (Feed me!) Zzz Zzz...morning? 15:56, 22 August, 2014 (UTC)
Well Google should be really thanked and the original artwork by English peasant. Still, I prefer we didn't sound off about the other site here. I have seen enough of that there for a lifetime of Shakespeare and really, it wastes everyone's time in the end. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 16:31, August 22, 2014 (UTC)
I feel the same way, Romartus, and I won't do it any more. Hello, Cat; I thought you'd vanished too, but it seems you reappeared. What's up? Well, a whole lot of tomatoes got thrown around at the other place, and I got rather soggy after a while and decided I'd had enough. I could explain in more detail, but it wouldn't be funny. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs 17:36, August 22, 2014 (UTC)
