L.O.L. ~ Tue, Jul 24 '12 12:04 (UTC) This is the part where you blame Wikia, folks. Here's what I did: I just kept punching my name and password into the login box, until it spat out every possible login error, and then gave up and logged me in. Yes, that's right. I made the software my bitch. ~ Tue, Jul 24 '12 12:07 (UTC)

Wikia Update
Hi,
The issue has been fixed. A bug happened as part of a database migration this morning that, while quickly caught, was going to prove to be hard to remove from the cache for 24 hours. As such, after conferring with our engineers, we have fixed the issue with the cost that edits to Uncyclopedia from about 12:30 UTC forward from today will be temporarily off the wiki. Our engineers will dump the XML file and restore those edits as soon as they possibly can.
Please, on behalf of Wikia, accept my apologies for this unfortunate bug. As many of you know, we have made a large commitment this month to upgrading our servers to both be more in line with the current MediaWiki version (1.19) and to improve site speed as a whole. Unfortunately, sometimes these sorts of bumps are going to happen, but certainly we understand any frustration that it seemed to affect this wiki so directly.
But anyway, everyone should be able to log in now as far as I know. I will be watching this thread closely over the coming hours to confirm. Please report ASAP if you can not. You may now return to causing world suffering or burning me in effigy, whichever strikes your fancy. --DaNASCAT (talk) 16:44, July 24, 2012 (UTC)
- I still can't login. Also, you might want to restore Xamralco's original username. 84.198.56.170
- This logging in issue is major, but minor things are happening too, like being unable to mark edits as minor, and the "editcount" function didn't work as well. Mattsnow 17:25, July 24, 2012 (UTC)
- Mattsnow, were you experiencing the logging-in issue? Edits as minor gone from certain namespace is actually a core feature change from MediaWiki, we will not be fixing it. We are investigating the "editcount" bug. The counting method seems to have changed in MW1.19. --DaNASCAT (talk) 17:46, July 24, 2012 (UTC)
- No, I kept my PC alive for at least 2 days, I don't know if I'd experience the log in issues should I log out, but I would rather not try. Should I? I'M SCARED! Mattsnow 18:16, July 24, 2012 (UTC)

user names
So what about corrupted user names? Is that just an ancillary symptom? Xamralco is now known as "Colonel-CommissarAndruet", ChiefjusticeDS shows up as "Tedikuma", and, as you can see above, Roman Dog Bird is showing up as "LynX". I mean, this is sorta funny and all, but I'm betting there will definitely more than burnings in effigy[1] if those guys don't get their hard-earned user names back... ~ Tue, Jul 24 '12 20:00 (UTC)
- ↑ I am talking about teabaggings in effigy. Please do not misconstrue this statement as a vague threat of violence.
- It appears the system is still confusing Uncyc usernames with your non-Uncyc, Wikia usernames. So while it appears the bigger issue of login is fixed, yes, usernames are not. As such, we still have the ticket open as the highest prioritized ticket on our network right now. --DaNASCAT (talk) 20:17, July 24, 2012 (UTC)

- For the purpose of clarification - there were more users having the "incorrect password" error. I was one of those (non-admin). My user name in contribs appears to be unaffected. Many admins can still not log in, but not all (Olipro and PIGGY appear unaffected). I was unable to log in at 14:00 UTC, but can since 23:00 UTC. • Puppy's talk page • 12:57 25 Jul

Hi,
Thanks for contacting Wikia.
We can confirm there is a major issue on your wiki, but luckily it seems the variety of issues - from log in errors to misattributed preferences - seems to have one root cause and that is the code to use the Uncyc user table versus the global Wikia one seems have suddenly been ignored. We'll get this working again ASAP - I have opened a "drop everything to fix this" priority bug ticket with our engineers and the issue should be patched within a few hours at the most.
Sorry for the trouble, thanks for your patience.

Hang on, I'll get track of your IP addresses for the Cabal:
Right. Socky is from.... Belgium. Yeah, you told me a billion times before. You're Flemish, right?[1] And you, ChiefjusticeDS, you're British. OK.... (writes it down) British. Done. So you're a Pom. The cabal knows where I live: Australia! Now because you're in the IP mode as you had been locked out from your accounts, what should we do now? Everyone's going to know where you live! 18:22, July 25, 2012 (UTC)- That's because the server seems to be mixing up our usernames with random Wikia usernames, e.g. if you go to my userpage, the contribs page linked there is of a user named "Yautja". 84.198.56.170

As of about five minutes ago, this situation appears to have been completely resolved after our engineers ran a script to break a number of user cache objects. - Just a quick "Hey this has changed" note. It appears that {{title}}, {{logo}} and {{nologo}} have all stopped working. As far as I am aware, these all rely on our JavaScript for the site. Also it appears that all our patrolled edits have reverted back to being unpatrolled (everything from May 6th to July 23rd had previously been marked as patrolled.) I'm going back through the patrolled stuff over the last 48 hours at the moment, and it seems to be marking as patrolled now, so no major issue, but those templates failing is a pain in the butt. Is that due to MW1.19 using different HTML IDs, or something going screwy with js implementation? • Puppy's talk page • 01:30 26 Jul

- Same thing. I've just patrolled everything back to 23rd (my time), and the auto-patrol seems to be working again now, so as long as we don't try and go back more than a day or so it's all good. (Mine is usually set for 3 days, but I'm not going to be buggered going back another days worth of edits. I'd already checked them all once, so it's just a matter of hitting "patrol" a few hundred times, but not worth the effort.) • Puppy's talk page • 05:38 26 Jul
- But the Patrol log, and the User rights log, seem to be in my Watchlist and I can't get them out. By the way, I was locked out for a little while, also locked out of another site. One problem was that my list of sites on which to allow cookies had been cleared. It would be astonishing to think that Uncyclopedia did that, but one thing that should be fixed is that, if login fails because cookies are disabled, the message should say that, perhaps among other things, rather than that the "session has timed out." Thanks for contacting Wikia and reporting this issue. This appears to be because the Yahoo YUI isn't loading properly at all, causing lots of "YAHOO undefined" type JS errors. I have passed the issue onto our technical staff to investigate.
Uncyclopedia makes extensive use of Yahoo YUI in their JavaScript, but it has been deprecated in favor of jQuery and Uncyc is one of the only wikis that still uses it for their custom JavaScript. Yahoo YUI will likely be removed for performance reasons in the near future (one less rather large, mostly unused JavaScript library to load can speed up page load times significantly), so after this is fixed, I'd suggest encouraging the authors of your site's JavaScript to convert Uncyc's JS to use jQuery instead. You could of course load Yahoo YUI yourself, but it would save on page load time if your JS was converted to jQuery.
I hope that helps, and feel free to let us know if you need anything else.
Cheers, grunny

I talked to the engineer who is looking after the removal of Yahoo YUI from our code base when I first replied, and he said it should be loading fine on Uncyc at the moment, so he needs to look closer at what's going wrong. He said he'd look at it on Monday, so hopefully should be resolved relatively soon after. Unfortunately, since the reports got to me on a Friday afternoon where most of our engineers are, it means he didn't have time to look at it then.
If you guys run into any issues while updating your JS from YUI to jQuery like just not being able to make something work in jQuery that worked fine in YUI, please feel free to contact me directly through Special:EmailUser either on Uncyc or on another wiki and I'll be happy to look at it.
Cheers, grunny

- This means we will no longer have our own javascript anymore? i LOVE wikia.--fcukman
LOOS3R!04:04, July 29, 2012 (UTC)- Nah. It just means that a type of scripting we have been using for a while - and we've known is becoming outmoded - has decided to stop working the way it should. We've known for a while this was going to happen, but the fact that it has happened now is a bug. We will (theoretically) have this until at least the next upgrade. We still have custom js. As with any upgrade, there are issues. • Puppy's talk page • 04:45 29 Jul
- This isn't just an upgrade, this is a Wikia upgrade. It's different, because Wikia upgrades downgrade. 16:25, 29 July 2012 Aaaaand now my sig is broken too. Fucking great.)

Bug list
I'm trying to get a list of the things that are glitching at the moment. So far I have:
- {{logo}}
- {{nologo}}
- {{USERNAME}}
- {{title}}
- Ban patrol tab
- QVFD/QVFD-c tabs
- Tag tab
- Auto-delete tab (sysop only one)
- [The patrol log and
huffuser rights log being in watch list (So far only SPIKE is affected, as far as I know)] - Edit conflicts coming up with the "saved" version in both edit boxes, and changes not being displayed on conflict pages. (This may just be me, but Lyrithya over-writing an edit of mine on her talk page when it looks like we edit conflicted suggests I'm not alone in it.)
- Patrol log: Only auto-patrolled people are able to patrol, but it's being mis-attributed in the log.
Beyond general kvetching, anyone have anything to add to this list? • Puppy's talk page • 01:05 30 Jul
- There's no distinction in the log between edits patrolled automatically, and ones done manually, so I can't collect stats on who's doing what. Completely minor, and it irks the hell out of me. ~ Mon, Jul 30 '12 4:30 (UTC)
Ongoing issues
- Edit conflicts coming up with the "saved" version in both edit boxes, and changes not being displayed on conflict pages.
- Patrol log: Only auto-patrolled people are able to patrol, but it's being mis-attributed in the log.
- The word advertisements coming up on Search results.
