Liberal Democrat future?

LONDON, UK -- The British Liberal Democrats are preparing for a 'reduced future' by buying a London cab to take their MPs to the next parliament.

Party leader Nick Clegg said this was 'the right thing to do' and that the Liberal Democrats were being 'realists' and not 'airy-fairies.'

Since joining the British Conservative Party in a coalition government, the Liberal Democrats have seen their electoral support go from over 20% to under 8% and dropping. This has led to predictions that the party will lose every seat, except four where voters still think it is the age of William Gladstone.

'Electoral facts are electoral facts,' said Clegg, who is on course to lose his own parliamentary seat. 'We already have an offer on our yellow battle bus, so it makes sense to buy a taxi for our elected representatives. If we do get more MPs elected, there is room for a roof rack to be added on top for some of our younger parliamentarians.'

The Liberal Democrats have a long record of being down to single figures in parliament. Their predecessors, the Liberal Party, also used a taxi in the 1950s when they had six MPs, until later electoral success led them to splash out on a mini bus.

The new taxi will be run on gas, fed from inside the cab to an advanced propulsion system.
