SitenoticeID[edit]

  • This is just a note to all admins who update the Sitenotice. Please remember to increase MediaWiki:Sitenotice id by +1. This will ensure that those who have previously dismissed the sitenotice will see it again, because of cookies or something. If you have any questions, I suggest you ask Dr. Skullthumper. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 06:43, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

This should lead to Uncyclomedian versions of those pages. Not the real thing. --User:Nintendorulez 22:18, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Just in case anyone in the UK didn't know what UTC was - like me - it's the same as GMT. So ten in the morning till one in the afternoon, basically. RabbiTechno 19:40, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Please don't trust the Jewish, user-page vandalising vegan hippy. GMT and UTC currently differ by approximately 0.0497964 of a second, which is almost twice as long as he spends with his girlfriend every night. Juan Kerr 20:47, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Don't trust Juan Kerr either. He's secretly a hippy too, and he looks ten times more semitic than I do. Like a sort of cross between Osama bin Ladin, Rasputin and the singer from System of a Down, in fact. RabbiTechno 15:36, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

My Search Is Over[edit]

Long have I been searching for the ultimate whoring mechanism, and I have found it. Now the only question is who is dumb enough to make me an admin so I can abuse this thing? ...shit, I shouldn't have said that out loud.   Le Cejak <5:01, 24 May 2008>

A post by Cajek. It makes me sad just thinking he doesn't come here anymore... -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 22:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah. It's kind of pointless banning him now. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:22, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I been meaning to ask about that. Did he die or something? -OptyC Sucks! Icons-flag-us.png CUN22:27, 26 Feb

Personal Appeal From Oscar Wilde[edit]

I think that Uncyclopedia founder, Oscar Wilde should run a personal appeal to get donations, just like Jimmy Wales is doing right now for Uncycopedia's parody, Wikipedia. We could run this banner as our sitenotce, similar to what you see at the top of any Wikipedia article, and someone could bodgie up the page about the "personal appeal" (I'm sure Oscar is too busy to write it himself). Jimmy doesn't deserve the money, but our very own Oscar does, so watta-ya say? I Don't KnowTalk 07:43, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Help[edit]

I am trying to get my banners to rotate on my wiki. anyone here have some time to help me please. thanks. --Darkskynet 05:17, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Just type everything backwards and it will be rotated. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 08:24, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
If you mean randomisation, just use <choose> like you would anywhere else.

Have you tried putting your banners on a carousel? --ChiefjusticeDS 10:59, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
Currently my code looks like this does this look right ? also how does the weight affect which one is displayed. Thanks, --Darkskynet 04:22, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
<choose>
<option weight="2">{{evil appeal}}</option>
<option weight="5">{{Normal_appeal}}</option>
<option weight="3">{{Girl appeal}}</option>
<option weight="3">{{hobo appeal}}</option>
<option weight="3">{{Money appeal}}</option>
</choose>

You need more muskoxen. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 04:48, 12 January 2011

I'll be sure to go to the andes mountains and round a few of those up.. --DARKSKYNET 22:07, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
The higher the weight, the likelier it is to be noticed. Kinda like in real life. Sir SockySexy girls.jpg Mermaid with dolphin.jpg Tired Marilyn Monroe.jpg (talk) (stalk)Magnemite.gif Icons-flag-be.png GUN SotM UotM PMotM UotY PotM WotM 22:17, 13 January 2011
Ok, that makes sense. so a weight of 10 will show ten times more likely than a weight of 1 ? Thanks, --DARKSKYNET 22:48, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Parody of the Wikipedia univ. chick[edit]

I like the new banners. It also seems Wikipedia has better found a way to get people to read its fundraising appeal. Can we parody it? Something like, "Please read this appeal from a contributor one helluva lot cuter than Jimbo Wales with 18,000 edits, a cheap ploy to get your attention voice for our future." Sir Roger 08:16, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

This doesn't work anymore[edit]

Ever since Monobook got dropped, I haven't seen the site notice. Is it just me? ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 23:04 14 June 2018

Frames[edit]

Hellow, I noticed that your MediaWiki Sitenotice includes frames on your pictures for some reason, even though there are no captions. I suggest that you remove the word "thumb" from the code, so that those will go away, it looks strange and unprofessional to have them there. It also looks strange that the bleach image is much larger than the left-hand image, but that is just me. Cheerio! 2600:1700:A0E0:71A0:3D7F:217A:1E7C:BEF4 23:49, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for your observation; there are never any photo captions so indeed these don't have to be thumbnails. The asymmetry of sizes is because the right-hand image often changes; perhaps ask User talk:Romartus to take some time to fiddle with the sizing. Spıke 🎙️00:08 28-Apr-20
