Forum:Uncyclopedia logins
Some users are experiencing login problems with user names. I have asked Sannse at Wikia to look into this. It is probably an issue related to the user name data base merger between Uncyclopedia and Wikia so I hope it will fixed. Please leave a message here or on my user page. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 12:09, July 20, 2015 (UTC)
- As an update, the problem appears that if you had ticked 'stay logged in', you're not affected. Wikia are looking into this problem. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:18, July 20, 2015 (UTC)
- My "stay logged in" expired. I have the same problem that Lucifuge Rofacale describes on Spike's talk page. (ScottPat) 213.120.234.146 19:33, July 20, 2015 (UTC)

- Chunkles here in IP form. I somehow got logged out and can't get back in. That was fun while it lasted. 108.64.251.4 00:50, July 21, 2015 (UTC)

- My "stay logged in" also expired. It remembered my username but says my password is wrong, and the "forgot password" link comes up as 503 Service Unavailable. Simsilikesims here. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here.
Best guess
My best guess is that Wikia's servers are failing when they go to associate a new browser instance with an Uncyclopedia user name (the association to be stored in the Cookie to obviate more lookups for that browser instance). The failure appears to me as an empty web page; the Firefox "web console" reports that it was accompanied by a code "HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error". Sannse says on her Message Wall, "I don't think it relates to the name work, because that's not currently touching the log in system, it's just moving accounts around." I disagree because I think it is doing more; namely, ensuring that a given "moved around" Uncyclopedia account provides access on the Wikia side, and vice versa.
If you buy my guess about the event that causes the bug to occur, discussion about what got you to the event (whether you had "Remember Me" checked, and so on) may be an unnecessary complication. The 503 is surprising; asking for a temporary password to be mailed to me has worked fine; Uncyclopedia accepts it, asks me to pick a real one — and then gives me a blank page with 500 Internal Server Error.
There is more at User talk:EStop#Accounts and at the bottom of User talk:Romartus/Archive25.
Wikia robots have already asked me whether I am satisfied with the response to my report, any answer to be parsed either by Google servers or non-native English speakers in an inexpensive country, and the numerical result probably affecting Sannse's next salary review. This is a fusion of Smilin' Faces and facelessness. Spıke 🎙️ 03:14, July 21, 2015 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Well today is supposed to be the day the user name databases are merged. See how it pans out per our request to see what is going on. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:20, July 21, 2015 (UTC)
More observations
I am signed in on Wikia but it doesn't carry over here - and won't recognize my password (which I always had over here).
So back to IP crunching it is. 31.51.113.107 13:56, July 21, 2015 (UTC)
- Is it pointing to the same email address? --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 16:47, July 21, 2015 (UTC)
When I try to log in to my account (EpicWinner), the screen goes blank. I have another account on Wikia (Chip Brown), but I never used that here, and it doesn't work if I try. What should I do?--98.237.51.224 17:47, July 21, 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks a bunch.--EpicWinner (talk) 20:47, July 21, 2015 (UTC)
- The next time I viewed RecentChanges, my "skin" preferences had been changed away from "I want the software tools to work correctly" and to "I want to be nagged to go to other Wikia wikis" and I had to set it back to Uncyclopedia at My preferences. Spıke 🎙️04:54 22-Jul-15
- I had that problem a few days ago. Looking at Uncyclopedia via the Wikia skin is weird. I wonder how many users change the default skin to wikia or monobook to imitate the Wikipedia Experience? --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:43, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
- The point is that My preferences said I had selected Uncyclopedia. But I had to select it again to actually get it. To get the best imitation of Wikipedia, readers should select the Uncyclopedia skin, which is supposed to be selected for them by default. Wikia 'bots sneakily changed our settings, and presumably everyone else's, to use the "database merge" to advertise their universe of alternative places to edit. If I wanted to put myself at the mercy of corporate pitch-men, I would have signed up for the "free" upgrade to Windows 10. Spıke 🎙️14:56 22-Jul-15
- Can't sign in either - will stick to making cryptic/amusing comments (and correcting tyops). 82.44.143.26 14:37, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
- Your cryptic comments are self-amusement only and outweigh the utility of your typo corrections. If you would like an assignment, the new article M4 Sherman that you helped with needs aggressive copy-editing rather than mere typo corrections. Spıke 🎙️14:56 22-Jul-15
- I noticed the Wikia Bots are posting messages on some of the stuff I had just edited. Is this just a temp thing or Evil HQ's Nipple Obliteration Minions on the prowl. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 15:08, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
- It is I on the prowl; when I use the Rollback all tool to revert Anon because I think the need to revert is self-evident, both my edit and his turn into "bot edits" that are omitted from ordinary views of RecentChanges. Spıke 🎙️15:14 22-Jul-15

- Being unsign-in-able is not amusing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.115.54.202 (talk • contribs)
- If an account was disabled by this operation, tell Wikia about it at Special:Contact. Your IP has no other edits, so we don't know who you claim to be, and Admins cannot fix account bugs. Spıke 🎙️17:17 23-Jul-15
Skin changes
Well I'm finally in. However I now have been forced to view Uncyclopedia through a hideous Wikia skin. Not only that, but everything is in Spanish as my only other Wikia account was on Inciclopedia. I do hope I can find the button that changes the skin back to the way it was before. SirScott 18:35, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
OK. Turns out that changing the language from Spanish to English changes the whole skin. SirScott 18:37, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
- I'm back in, finally. Did a password reset and reset my skin to Uncyclopedia's under Special:Preferences. All seems to be good. 18:46, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
- See previous section; it seems that Wikia surreptitiously diddled some of our settings. That RecentChanges "displays...based on every single edit rather than every page edited" means you were defaulted to "hide grouped recent changes." Go into My preferences, change to some other skin, and then change back to Uncyclopedia and this may be fixed. Spıke 🎙️19:56 22-Jul-15
Back in without needing to reset password. In the wikia skin, Recent Changes cleverly defaults to 'Show last 0 changes', but luckily we won't be using that. Ye Blacke Adder (talk) 06:22, July 23, 2015 (UTC)
