  • Yes it's that time again! Time for the summer PLS! Time to write! Time to laugh! Time to judge! I will be running this year's summer PLS (apparently). We will require 12 judges (3 for each of the categories: Best Article, Best Noob Article, Best Illustrated Article, and Best Rewrite). Judges will be allowed to enter any category except for the category they are judging. I would like to explore the possibility of offering cash prizes for this edition of the PLS (something we used to do many years ago). If anybody is willing to donate some cash money for prizes, please say so in the section below. The summer PLS is scheduled to run from June 11th to 25th with judging running from the 26th to the 3rd of July. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 20:04, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

Judge Sign Up (Please specify if there is a category you would prefer to judge)

Score: 1 more judges needed!
  • Well I'm going to be a judge, obviously. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 20:04, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • I'm not going to enter any categories, so is there any possibility of having like three universal (all-category) judges, too? I'd judge for that. A (Ruins) 20:36, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
No "universal judges". But I may call on you (or other judges who do not enter) to judge in place of judges who go missing. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 20:41, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • I'm cool with that. I'll take Best Collaboration for that. We should make drop-down sections so we can list all the judges in their categories without taking too much space. A (Ruins) 20:49, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
Symbol comment vote.svg Comment. This universal judges thing sounds like a good idea. Are there even enough judges and writers for a contest? --166.250.227.217 20:55, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
The above was me. --Hotadmin4u69 [TALK] 21:00 May 21 2012
  • I will judge best n00b article. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 21:25, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • I'll also go with noob as I will potentially enter one of the others. --Black Flamingo 21:29, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • I will also be a judge, I am good at judging. (I also don't care what I have to judge) ~Sir Frosty (Talk to me!) Proudly bogan 08:02, May 22, 2012 (UTC)
  • I'll judge whatever. I also reccommend completely scrapping Best Collab. Call it a hunch, but I think it's an overextenion on a potentially underpopulated contest. --Littleboyonly.jpg TKFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK Oldmanonly.jpg 16:51, May 22, 2012 (UTC)
  • I like TKF's thoughts above.... also I would like to enter best article, but if needed I can judge. I have vowed not to write and fast until June 12 to attain spiritual readiness.--Sycamore (Talk) 22:09, May 23, 2012 (UTC)
Based on the feedback above, I have removed the "Best Collab" section. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 03:23, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
The fuck, I signed up for that. A (Ruins) 12:57, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
I moved you to Best Illustrated, unless you have a problem with that. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 13:07, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
Cool wit meh brah. A (Ruins) 13:14, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
Do I get a cash prize if I sign up as a judge? -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

Cash prizes?

  • Does anybody want to donate some prize money? -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 20:04, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • I will. --Black Flamingo 20:56, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
  • I can probably pitch in a bit. --Hotadmin4u69 [TALK] 21:00 May 21 2012
  • Personally, I think its a little inappropriate to offer cash. First of all, it will be pretty much impossible for the winner to redeem their prize. Second of all, the winner will be forced to tell everyone who they are, thus destroying the feeling that everything here is anonymous. Finally, once money gets involved, someone is bound to abuse it. Just a template seems fine. --Talk to me! Sir Xam Ralco the Mediocre 21:25, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
We gave out cash prizes for the PLS for several years. The prizes will be small (I'm thinking between 5 and 10 dollars each, depending on how many people are willing to donate). The winners will contact me privately to receive their prize, thus preserving their anonymity. The potential for abuse exists, but I'm sure we will all be extra vigilant and therefore prevent it. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 21:31, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
What Zombiebaron said. And a lot of Uncyclopedians already know your real name, Xamralco. --Hotadmin4u69 [TALK] 22:46 May 21 2012
I'm with Xamralco, I think having members of the community decide which member of the community gets money throws the door open big time to both abuse and indignance. If the prizes do involve 5 to 10 dollars, couldn't you just send a prize from the giftshop? Or order them a self published book of their favourite articles (wikipedia style?). --ShabiDOO 23:32, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah. The first thing I would spend my $10 on is crack and porn. Oh well, back to peddling. A (Ruins) 13:10, May 22, 2012 (UTC)
If you don't want to reveal your identity to anyone, you can always ask the one giving out the money to donate it to some random charity. Never, Frosty! I just use the Internet. When I'm out, I beat up truck drivers instead. A (Ruins) 13:30, May 23, 2012 (UTC)
