Forum:Drop the Hammer Time
By which I mean that it's time to drop the hammer not that we should drop the Hammer Time. I've returned and gotten the impression that the shit has really hit the fan while I've been away. I could blame the users because that's the obvious and easy answer but that doesn't get us anywhere; so what does? The iron fist of tyranny justice, that's what gets things solved. So how do we get the iron fist of tyranny justice going? We need four things: actual policies, more good sysops, regular users doing administrative work and a whole lot of concerted effort.
I can't and don't want to do this alone but I want to see it get done. I know that there's been a lot of resistance in the past on account of people liking the sort of anarchic approach to handling things. I'll need a couple sysops, at least one bureaucrat and a whole bunch of regular users. So, who's with me? --Sir gwax (talk) 03:42, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't find anything funny about the page, but that doesn't mean that I'm against it. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 03:44, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- You don't get it at all, do you? What Gwax is saying is something that I've been thinking for a while. I'm rather new, comparatively speaking, but I've seen this site decline rather extensively since I became active sometime in May. I really enjoy writing for y'all, and I enjoy helping out however I can. We need to get more people feeling the same way. It shouldn't be work, but it might be some effort sometimes. I join you, Gwax, in your quest to restore Uncyclopedia to its former glory!-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 03:51, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, but what kind of action? Everyone wants world peace, but it's easier said than done. Exactly what is Gwax proposing we do to? - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon (Tick Tock) (Contribs) 03:53, Nov 11
- I agree with TLB. I'd like to help, but I'd like to know how I'm helping first. -- 03:56, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Not to toot my own horn overly much, but I really used to put in a lot of time here. At the moment, I'm skimming my pared-down watchlist once a day, at most, and I'm doing admin-like stuff maybe once a week for an hour, tops.
If anything, we need more active admins. Either "more active" admins, or more "active admins". Whichever are easier to find/entice with sleazy, behind-the-dumpster sex. 11/13 01:14
- Yeah, I'm not sure if I'll be able to do altogether too much more than that myself but I did have an idea that wouldn't require more active admins and might accomplish the same. If we set up some sort of admin-helpers system, where some regular users could review things and report to admins and then the admins could make final judgments without having to gather all the information themselves. It would take some load off of the admins and it might serve as a good testing/recruiting ground for new admins. Another thing that might help would be to get more people actively involved in things like voting on VFD. --Sir gwax (talk) 02:26, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

- O RLY? Then why is Special:Newpages and Special:Recentchanges so full of crap? --The honourable Misleading Username, Esq. (Communications Dept.) 22:42, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Because they're either new or recent. Will that crap still exist in seven days? No, I say! We'll have newer, recenter crap by then. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:53, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

What, specifically, do we do about it?
Here's what I need from you:
- Go to User talk:Gwax/needs repair
- Be serious for a moment
- Tell me what you think needs fixing
From there, I'll deliberate some, come up with a concise list of the problems and then we can start discussing how to fix them. --Sir gwax (talk) 04:30, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- /me sucks air through teeth. Ooh - what you've got there's a blown humo-regulator. I'd fix it for you now, but the parts won't come until Tuesday, and that's if I send the form off right away. Best I can do is give you some duct-tape for now - it won't stop the leak, but it'll give me a week or two to go and say the same thing to a few other websites, and then we can come back and start the whole thing again. That'll be thirty-six fifty. --Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 20:12, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, see, I knew that's what you were going to say so I ordered the parts directly. I'd fix the problem myself but, quite frankly, my carpal tunnel prevents me from using a screwdriver. --Sir gwax (talk) 23:34, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
