Forum:Admins, What Must I Do?
Message For Admins
What am I doing wrong on Uncyclopedia? What must I do to prove that I can do the job to be an admin? I resigned from the Welcoming Committee due to the criticism that I received. I would like to know what it is that I am doing wrong & what conflicts that I would cause. I've disappointed you all & myself. Please help me. 17:52, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- All things in time, my son. No one said that you'd never be ready to be opped. They just said that you aren't ready yet. And that's not cause they are trying to be nice. If someone was nominated and they were unfit for ever being an admin, we'd straight out say.---Rev. Isra (talk) 17:57, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I must be doing something wrong. My votes were so close to Benson's that my self esteem died along with my chances. 18:00, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

- I've said on more than on occasion that I think you'd fill the admin shoes nicely. Just seems like you've made a few minor missteps, but none that invalidate the volume of work you've contributed to the site. The feedback from Cody and Sannse say as much. Cut yourself some slack. We still <3 you. --Sir Todd GUN WotM MI UotM NotM MDA VFH AotM Bur. AlBur. CM NS PC (talk) 18:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, unlucky this time Tom. Just carry on plugging away, keep your nose clean and you'll have a good chance next VFS. -- Hindleyite Converse 18:13, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- Besides, I've seen the executive bathroom. It's pretty gross. The balloon dispenser by the door is a nice touch, but they're really expensive and kind of greasy.--Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:34, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Tom, I think you were a victim of the limits I imposed on voting. I'm sure if the admins could have voted more, they would have and your score would have been much higher.--<<>> 18:26, 16 January 2007 (UTC)--<<>> 18:26, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I will vote for you next time around. See this. I asked exactly the same question. Oh well. Hopefully be with you next nomination :) 19:13, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Tom: You could stop whining, for one. If it were up to me, you'd be on the list of people never to admin for trying too hard. 19:15, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- Tom, I like you, but you need to work on some issues before you can become an admin here. There is a thing called tact, and I know it sounds funny coming from someone like me, but even I have more tact than you have. Yeah I suppose you could say civility, it is being nice to the n00bs and other members here. Not creating a template telling them to f-off, now creating a template and telling them hints and suggestions they could use to improve themselves would have been much better. Calling someone gay is not a good thing either, because it is offensive to real homosexuals as well as an insult to the person you called gay as well as upset the rest of us that you were so politically incorrect to use it as an insult. I mean it is not the end of the world, you can work on these issues. You just have to want to change and admit to your mistakes and learn from them. Take the criticism in a positive way, no body is trying to put you down, they are trying to help you in a way. Look at me, I'm not an admin either. I got issues I need to work on as well. My schizo affective disorder causes me to write long posts in the forum and post some paranoid and weird stuff that get me made fun of by others. I am trying to fix that. I am trying to add in my input for the admin nominations with reasons why they shouldn't be admins and things they need to work on to become a good admin. Everyone has a potential, Tom, so do you. Some of us have to work on that potential more than others, so join the club. I wish you good luck and maybe next time if you improve enough, you can become an admin? --Lt. - Yeah Tom, i hope you think about what you've done. we're not angry... just disapointed.
- Haha, for what it's worth comrade mayfair, i'd've voted for you if you were nominated for admin - jack mort | cunt | talk - 19:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I totally agree with you Orion. As for Dawg, you can be really harsh sometimes. Tom is very helpful and could easily match you. No offence though. 19:41, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- Orion's quite right. As I said before Tom, I'm incredibly impressed with the time and effort you put into the site, but my against was based on the fact that I think you just need to make that leap of understanding about the difference between a pithy admin put-down of a vandal/cruft creator, and scaring someone off by calling them a gobshite. Patience, young padawan; as the Guinness commercials say, "All things come to those who...........wait". And look at it this way; most of the competition is out of the way now, so your chances of success next time there's a VFS just went up. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 19:55, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- /me Cries at that last remark. 20:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Orion for answering my question. As for Dawg, I can cry about it if I want to. I guess in your eyes it's a bad thing to want to maintain this place. I can't help it that I like it here. To base my "trying too hard" to be an admin doesn't seem to be a good reason to not like me. I'm sorry that you don't like me & based your personal against halfway due to personal issues. I'm not sure what I did here on Uncyclopedia to make it personal. As for calling users gobshites, my welcome template had more help to it that the default one. I had them all huffed to prevent any problems in the future. I would like my link to be cut from the Most Linked page to show that it wasn't due to the fact of being Most Linked. I really wanted to help other users. Was I too harsh when I quietly warned a user that they violated the Vanity Policy ( the talk page wasn't huffed )? I think I was more pleasant than hard on new users. I admit that I did lose my cool with Metropolis but he just would not listen. Anyways, I'll try harder to not disappoint anyone else. Thanks you all for your advice & support. 22:42, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Tom, you've done a lot in a pretty short amount of time to improve your reputation. I was one of the people who thought you were just a nuisance early on (as you might recall), and I voted you for UotM this month. That says a lot. Now, I don't think you're ready to be an admin yet, but in my view the primary thing you need is just more experience, not a quantum leap in anything. —rc (t) 01:40, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
