Who are we?[edit]

The welcoming committee is an informal group of Uncyclopedians who greet new users and help them get started.

  • For the current roster of volunteer Welcoming Committee Members click here.

Why are we here?[edit]

Mostly because we have nowhere else to be.

What do we do?[edit]

Meet and greet. Arriving at Uncyclopedia as a new, fresh-faced first time user is often a daunting task, "how do I upload images?", "why do people not want to hear about how gay my friend/classmate/casual acquaintance is?", "why is Flammable banning me for life?" and numerous other questions need to be addressed. That's where we come in. That and the joy of seeing your signature spammed unmercilessly across the entire site.

There is no need to post Welcome messages on talk pages of anonIP users, only people who have taken the time to actually sign up for an account.

Please note the correct form of the Welcome tag that we utilise at this time is {{subst:welcome}}. Feel free to place your signature after this.

Example Welcome Message[edit]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, Welcoming Committee, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If not, the door's right over there... no, a little more to your left... yeah. Anyway, here are a few good links for people like you:

If you read anything at all, make it the above three links. If you want to find out more about Uncyclopedia or need more help with something, try these:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button sig.png) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date.

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Welcoming Committee/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If you need help, ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Browse our list of available mentors, and leave them a message on their talk page. Again, welcome!
