JACKSONVILLE, Florida -- A north Florida baby boy, aged 3, has pleaded guilty to shaking his mother to death after the mom's incessant calling interrupted his game on Facebook.
Baby A, who remains unnamed due to his young age, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of his mom, Alexandra V. Tobias, on Wednesday and remains jailed at a juvenile detention center.
The Florida Times-Union reports that he told investigators he was angered because his Mom was calling him to dinner while he was playing the game FarmVille. The paper also reports that he told investigators he shook his Mom until she was unconscious, smoked one of her cigarettes to compose him, and then shook her again.
He will be sentenced in December. State guidelines call for 2.5 to 5 years in reform school, but a prosecutor said it could be shorter because of the baby’s confession.
Baby A’s defense counsel argued that the baby was playing FarmVille and should therefore be declared innocent by reason of insanity. The defense submitted testimony from twenty psychiatrists stating the opinion that players of FarmVille were either complete retards or totally insane.
A telephone message and an e-mail seeking further information were not returned, perhaps indicating that Baby A has recovered his place in the on-line game.
