Barack Obama gives a thumbs up for his new Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Hillary Clinton

WASHINGTON (UP) Barack Obama has just announced that Hillary Clinton will be the new Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. She will now become the first woman to ever hold this position and by law is now the highest ranking military officer overall in the United States Armed Forces, as well as the principal military adviser to the incoming President of the United States, Barack Obama.

"I chose Hillary because she's always been a tenacious fighter, is highly organized and is just the kind of maverick that this administration needs" said Obama after making the announcement at 12:00pm EST.

Senator Clinton responded that she was "proud to be serving the needs of this country and looks forward to working with this administration to secure American interests at home and around the world"

Hillary Clinton: You've come a long way baby!

Clinton takes over with a myriad of problems; The war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan, Iran developing nuclear technology with missiles now capable of reaching Israel, renewed concern with the Russians in Eastern Europe, the attrition to our all-volunteer armed forces and terrorists behind every tree. When asked about these issues Clinton responded "It's far too early and inappropriate for me to make any statement regarding national security at this time and the press will be briefed after the new administration takes over in January 09'"
