Something about dates or something on the mainpage. It's by day, anyhow. That thing with all the subthings. We should semi-protect them all, methinks, since they seem to be full of cruft from IPs and whatnot.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or think it'd be a bad idea? I'd be more specific, but I don't know what I'm talking about myself. ~ 15:25, 4 July 2011
- The On This Day... header in the main page? I think we should revise most of the dates, and semi-protect it.--
- Yes, thank you! That's it exactly, on all counts.

- Hate to break it to you but IPcruft is what On This Day is made of to begin with. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • SU&W) 16:48 Jul 04, 2011
- Uhh, then make new ones?--EpicAwesomeness (talk) 17:06, July 4, 2011 (UTC)
- Same goes for the entire website, no? What's your point?

- I like to think that this site is a ball of tinfoil covered in shit, with the occasional speck of gold scattered throughout. Though it isn't the nicest smelling thing on Earth, and if someone were to catch you reading it they'd think you were insane, with enough work, you can find and collect the tiny pieces of precious metal, and smelt them before not knowing what to do with the rest of the metaphor.-- 18:21, July 4, 2011 (UTC)
- No, there are plenty of articles made by actual users along with quality control systems. Most of "on this day" was made years ago and there's not much good about it. It's like 365 stubby, listy, unfunny articles. There's no point in semi-protecting them in their current stage, because allowing new editors and IPs to edit them wouldn't result in anything worse than we currently have. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • SU&W) 19:05 Jul 04, 2011
- Better question: How do we make them actually funny?
- Dunno. It'd be quite a project. And don't say "a contest," because there's 365 of the things, and a contest would only take out maybe thirty to forty at best. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • SU&W) 19:03 Jul 04, 2011
- I think Gerrycheevers fixed up a relevant portion of the lot when he was still with us, though. 19:08, 4 July 2011
- EMC was working on it too, not too long ago, but then he wasn't anymore, or something. I blame everything that went wrong with that on Dexter. Or possible Dr. Skullthumper. It's a toss-up.

- And Gwax's attempt at timeline rebuilding was also related to this, so that we could take dates mentioned in the timeline articles and spork them into the On This Days. -- 20:19, July 4, 2011 (UTC)
