Sources?[edit]

All of the UnNews articles I've seen have external "sources" (although the reading article links me to Google Australia). Do all articles have to have sources, even if they're absolutely random?

It's not really an obligation, but it is recommended. However, if you're going to write an absolutely random article, it may not be appropriate for inclusion. Well, not perhaps a random article. I meant a random link (like Google Australia? I mean, really?)
The just-rewritten Style Guide explains that the purpose of the citation is to help the reader enjoy your news by viewing the story you based it on. When there is none, a citation might help you make the result look more real, or might be funny in its own right. Spıke Ѧ 17:44 10-Mar-10
I thought the sources were to teach the unwashed masses, ignorant of current events past the tabloid headlines they were able to sound out whilst standing in line at the checkout counter to buy beer, pre-packaged food and contraceptives uninformed about the topic you so lovingly just mocked... or am I wrong here?  Avast Matey!!! My answer above stands (or see, or correct Style, Sec. 4.5). A couple times this week I read an UnNews that I was sure was junk pulled from a bodily orifice--until I clicked on the link and got brought up-to-date. Spıke Ѧ 09:29 22-Mar-10

I had a bit of crap attempt and making a link - and then see the external source had removed it ! I guess adding a source should be done if the story is otherwise very obscure. Or I am just explaining why I couldn't do it properly. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 18:52, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

A week ago, Socky removed several of my links to Yahoo Finance, as presumably the URL to the story changed. Many wire-service stories are revised after their initial publication, and any given web site (where the URL is its own and not necessarily based on the wire service) may continue to make the newest revision available through the same URL, may create a new URL for the new version, and might or might not continue to support obsolete versions of a story. UnNews Article (new page generator) question[edit]

Um, currently when using the above, the boxy editable area imported from the Template:New_page_test has the following text written at the bottom:

<!--Finally, add one or more categories here to promote your article, putting each in [[double brackets]]. The categories linked from the UnNews main page are Category:Antarctica, Category:Africa, Category:Asia, Category:East Asia, Category:North America, Category:Middle East, Category:Central America, Category:South America. In addition, most countries and many industries have categories. Use as many as you like so that users can find your article from many areas of interest.-->

But as far as I can tell categories of this nature are no longer linked from main page since the reorganization.

So, my question (in short): Can I just redo this and everything related to it?

I've been working on a formal way to categorize articles in my head for awhile now (rough draft here) and I think I can (move the above into sub-categories to) maintain the history while providing a better experience to the new or casual user. What do you think?  Avast Matey!!! Happytimes are here!* Happytimes.gif (talk) (stalk) Π   ~ Xkey280.jpg ~  18 Apr 2010 ~ 04:09 (UTC)

Sex-ions[edit]

The header should look more linear, unless we want to make it look like HuffPo, which I support as well. And the sections should have white backgrounds. --Sir General Minister G5 FIYC UPotM [Y] #21 F@H KUN 11:57, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Blurb[edit]

OK, I give up! Where did the place go where you can add a blurb to the main page directing to your article? I've been looking and looking, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere anymore. 207.216.13.209 03:43, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

It took me FIVE FEMTOSECONDS to figure out where to click to go to an article. Make the links blue, or suffer a lolrage of over 4,000 femtonytes. --Sir General Minister G5 FIYC UPotM [Y] #21 F@H KUN 17:10, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Mobile site[edit]

Today it seemed, like the wikia mobile site for unnews was not as up to date as the main page. Is it a crat thing to enquire about how the mobile site works? --K evillips эвилипс MUN,CM,NS,3of7 20:45, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

Mobile skin should have the exact same content as desktop. It's the styling that differs, not the content. If the mobile site is chucking a wobbly it's probably an issue with the server access. If it keeps happened get screenshots and let me know.                               Puppy's talk page10:55 06 Feb
