Mmmmm - Donut...

OXFORDSHIRE, UK -- 300 Million pounds of tax payers money has been used to construct a giant silver donut in an Oxfordshire field, it was announced today. The oversize confectionery is titled the "Diamond Synchrotron", a name which the scientists freely admit means nothing, "We just made up the name, it had to sound fancy or the government would never have given us the money."

The donut, which has a silvery glaze, is said to be ,"delicious" and the perfect accompaniment would be a 72 million gallon glass of milk. "We had about 2.2 Million left over which we are spending on a 24 hour staff to help us eat it."

When questioned on the alleged misuse of government funds, deputy prime minister, John Prescott commented, "Giant donut you say? I'll get my coat."

The scientists involved could all face jail terms for the abuse of public money. However, they remain in good spirits, "The best bit about it is that the Large Hadron Collider will provide us with limitless amounts of coffee".

The Large Hadron Collider is supposedly a super conducting super collider currently under construction at CERN, Geneva, at a cost of around 8 Billion Euros, or $88.42 US.
