| Farage creates, wins crisis |
14 August 2026
CLACTON, England -- British gadfly Nigel Farage has resolved a crisis of representation for this seaside town in Essex by standing for election to Parliament and winning.
The crisis had been created when Farage resigned the same seat, citing a 'vexatious' investigation into his finances, preferring a vexatious campaign to win the seat back. Farage is the impresario for the Reform UK party, and all other parties agreed to sit out the election to minimize the impact, like American basketball players committing cheap fouls to try to put an indelible asterisk on an opponent's record-setting evening.
Indeed, Farage's only opponent was Count Binface, a bin-liner character last seen in Viz Magazine, when marquee joke name Boaty McBoatface declined to stand. The parties that had vowed to ignore the by-election because it did not matter, feverishly knocked on doors on behalf of Binface as though it did. Binface campaigned using the slogan, 'Bin your vote'.
The principle behind what Farage called the 'You And Me Against the World' by-election is the Hillary Clinton Principle, in which, if you win an election, you can wave off all prior scandals and felonies as 'old news'. Presumably, the sizable victory against a joke candidate will be sufficient to also patch things up with forks of Reform UK, such as Restore UK and Refry UK, which have sprung up over single issues. Farage is confident that a unified Reform Party with him on top will win a general election hands-down, should Labour condescend to call one.
