Disputes[edit]
To Lobe:
About being funny: I suggest you read the guide. Adding bits of randomness do not make humor. They simply bore the reader.
Now, I am not a goddess of humor. I am quite fallable, and I strongly welcome improvement to the article. However, if changes aren't funny, but are just bits of rambling nonsense, you better believe I'll roll them back.
To make a good parody, you have to stick close enough to reality to keep a user who cares about the subject reading, but put amusing twists in. If you want to parody the heat tiles, look up how they're *actually* made. In fact, start by writing down exactly how they're made... but then put an amusing twist on the subject.
If heat tiles were made of many strange substances, then adding in random ingredients to the tiles might be amusing. They're not (the SRBs have many components in their fuel, however, and thus I already parodied that). If they went through some unusual manufacture process, you could parody that process. You did not do that. Perhaps something that could be parodied is their brittleness - yet, you didn't. You just stuck in pointless references to toe jam and the like.
To reiterate: randomness is not humor. Parody is humor. Feel free to try again. Rei 05:02, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- It is Loke, not Lobe. Randomness can be funny too, I am very much into Change Management. --Loke 16:00, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry about the name. I recommend, however, that you read the very first section of Uncyclopedia:How To Be Funny And Not Just Stupid. Rei 18:10, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry Rei, but that goes against my religion and belief in Change Management humour. Whoever wrote that drivel was way too serious, and has no idea how to be funny. --Loke 20:02, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- "Whoever wrote it" is the community as a whole - that page has had hundreds of contributors. If you don't like uncyclopedia's humor guidelines, go elsewhere. This is not Randomcyclopedia. Rei 21:22, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- I want you to read the part of it on 'Nonsense' again. I think you didn't quite get the connection between randomness and nonsense. Not nice deleting my previous comment, not nice attacking me or threatening me to leave here either. Yet I forgive you, because you are serious about the whole thing. Uncyclopedia:How To Be Funny And Not Just Stupid is really an ignorable policy, just random stuff that the community wrote anyway. --Loke 23:51, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- I didn't delete any comment of yours that I'm aware of; I simply deleted what you wrote in the article. What you wrote this time, however, was much better - good enough, in fact, that I continued it; you parodied the fact that attaching the tiles was a big problem, and merged that with the fact that Duct Tape holds anything. That, in turn, gave me a segway into explaining why parts of the shuttle are white and others are dark ;). I think the article is better now thanks to your help. :) Rei 01:30, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Well I left a comment here, and then later it was gone. If you didn't delete it, I apologize. I am trying to learn how to be funny, but my nature is to be chaotic and random, which will be hard for me to change. Granted it is a learning experience, and I'll try to learn from my mistakes. Sorry I took your comments as personal attacks on me. I hope we can be friends now or something other than argue with each other all the time. --Loke 01:50, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)

- Thanks, I saw the ignorable policy and I thought it was some random stuff that members wrote. Now I know it is what the Admins won't delete, and knowing is half the battle. I hope my last changes to the space shuttle article were funny and much better than the ones I added before that. --Loke 03:59, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, but I sort of like Random humor, yet others do not. I am trying to learn to adapt to a different brand/type of humor --Loke 04:39, 7 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Deleted Prose[edit]
Due to the high heat of reentry, engineers were presented with a fundamental problem: how to enable at least half of the crew to make it back alive. Engineers painstakingly developed part of the materials for the tiles of a new high-tech material, called "cast iron". Mined from the depths of the earth and refined through complex furnaces, it gives the shuttle its amazing durability in space and resistance to weather damage on the ground. The tiles are also made of high-tech materials like stale Ritz crackers, the materials used to make black boxes in airplanes, and toe-jam collected from George W. Bush and other Presidents of the USA. All of these materials are mixed together with super glue, and materials left over from Kitten Huffing, and then frozen to -100 F, and then heated to 7800 F, and then cooled down for a week as it forms into the molds the tiles are created from. The end product is a high-tech heat absorbing tile, which is attached to the shuttle using duct tape. The special heat absorbing tiles are applied to the under part of each shuttle.
