I see the photo captions coding has been fucked up across the entire wiki, making them very very small and hurting much of the emphasis that photo captions are used for. Can someone alert wikia that there has been a massive coding error. Thanks. Aleister 00:14 10--8---14
- I noticed this too. I think it's just updated formatting or something. Sir ScottPat (converse) 11:40, August 10, 2014 (UTC)
- Wikia seems to have changed formatting of thumbnails again. (See Forum:Thumbnails are broken.) Unlike the previous round, Wikia's DaNASCAT has no announcement on his blog about it. I wrestled with it for a while (in MediaWiki:Uncyclopedia.css) and finally got the captions to be black again instead of gray. My standard for this is whether it looks like Wikipedia, not whether OP thinks his captions are loud enough. The size of the text is unchanged from what I had been achieving before through local style orders, and looks the same as Wikipedia to me. OP's continual desire that everyone read his captions (and that his look different from everyone else's) is an anti-goal, as in fact the goal is to make our articles look consistent while pursuing humor in a variety of ways. I will not indeed alert Wikia that they "fucked up" — that is, displeased OP by continuing to improve (by their values) the layout of their pages. I will tweak further if given specific observations on how our thumbnails fail to resemble Wikipedia. Spıke Ѧ 13:14 10-Aug-14
- PS--I also noticed that thumbnails render in their eventual dimensions even when you are running without images and JavaScript, which is helpful. Spıke Ѧ 13:48 10-Aug-14
How thumbnails are fucked up
The forum's real name was changed. Censorship? Maybe, I have no idea, forum names didn't used to be changed. Anyway, I run Monobook, and on Monobook the captions are very very very tiny and all grey, nothing like the surrounding text. Ruins many a page. Thanks admins (any or all admins) for changing to Monobook, seeing what I mean, and giving wikia fucking hell about it. A very bad change for the bad. Aleister 22:25 11-8-14
- I renamed the Forum to clean it up. Users who select the
Uncyclopedia
skin (which we select for you if you fail to select at all) are assumed to want as exact a replica of Wikipedia as possible in order to maximize the satire. Users who select other skins are assumed to want an interface that resembles the interface elsewhere in Wikia. Therefore, my repairs have been only to theUncyclopedia
skin. Again: Wikia is seeking to assert an identity independent of Wikipedia, while we want to continue hiding in it. In other words, we have different values from the rest of Wikia, about which they have been accommodating. It is amazing that a user who chronically complains that advertisements, a Content Warning, and other tweaks interfere with the Wikipedia satire is too swell to maximize it for his own viewing. Unless you have only stopped by to swear. Spıke Ѧ 23:43 11-Aug-14- (You renamed the forum to 'clean it up'? Dude, do you know what site you're an administrator on???) SPIKEster, you are truly someone who misses the point of almost anything I say. The monobook skin is available, and for me is much easier to read and on the eyes. So if we offer the skin as one of our two skins, anything that's as fucked up (oh, sorry, 'broken') as this one should be worked on, imnho. It's really ruining the pages. Can another admin come into the conversation? thanks. Aleister 23:47 11-8-14
- I only ever use the Uncyclopedia default skin. I can see there have a few changes (boxes) but at least the text isn't in grey. The Wikia skin isn't suitable (this place looks so different) and the Monobook one is a bit old isn't it? Last year there was talk of adapting a version of the current wikipedia look (not available here) to work with a version of Darwin. That hasn't appeared but then we haven't been pushing it here too much either. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:48, August 12, 2014 (UTC)
- I will check later on the mobile version of this website. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:53, August 12, 2014 (UTC)
- I use Monobook here and at Wikipedia, so it's what I'm used to and it seems much more readable than the default. And now it has the tiny tiny grey caption problem. Maybe there's an easy code fix if wikia is alerted to this tiny tiny disaster. Thanks. Aleister 2:09 13-8-14
- I checked the site via the Wikia app on an iPad. Didn't see the same problem as regards grey text captions. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:00, August 13, 2014 (UTC)
