Talk:Public school

Perhaps it would be better to call this article "High School" or "Public School (US)" as in Britain a "Public School" means a private/independent school whereas a "State School" is the school funded by public spending, which is therefore different to the US meaning of "Public School." (1) We have an article on High school. (1A) We eagerly tolerate multiple, incompatible articles on the same subject, and the nomenclature difference is a fine way for them to coexist. (1B) That means you could write State school if you wished. (2) Not everything on this site needs to be British, given that the site is hosted in San Francisco and our editors and Admins are sprinkled all over the English-speaking world. I never said it needed to be British on the contrary I was helping it become international as at the moment it only accomadates for American terminology a Brit reading the title will think it is Public School in British sense and if an article was made about a British public school it should be called Public School (UK) and this to be called Public School (US). Wikipedia Evidence

Even wikipedia itself has public school as a disambugation with the choice being "Public school (government funded)", "Public school (UK)" or "Public university." Both Britain and India (at least) use the term "Public School" to mean a prestigious, posh, independent, private school which is the opposite of the US or Australian meaning.

By calling this article, "Public school (US)" or actually better named "Public school (government funded)" I would, unlike Spike claims, be making the article more international so that all can understand the meaning instead of just US and Australia. I therefore propose renaming this article to "Public school (government funded)" if a "Public school (UK)" is created as it is on wikipedia. Thank you. Locating Wikipedia pages in order to cite chapter and verse and demand compliant terminology is an activity best confined to Wikipedia. Do not change the name of an established Uncyclopedia article, so that no one can find it, in order to make a geopolitical point. Spıke Ѧ 11:25 12-Jun-13
