Umm...so what happened to Uncyclopedia today? Our layout makes us look like any old wikia site now instead of a more accurate spoof of Wikipedia. I always thought our layout previously was better so why downgrade to this? Sir ScottPat (converse) 16:27, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
- I had not noticed anything and do not notice anything. Did your cookie expire and were you viewing logged-out? The
uncyclopedia
skin, which exists nowhere else in Wikia, is designed to let us spoof Wikipedia more closely, but is a user option (which logged-out readers can't select). Nevertheless, Wikia would continually be hiring new people who don't know our needs, and some who do but want to "unify" the various franchises. Spıke Ѧ 17:01 23-May-14- In the past if I viewed Uncyclopedia logged in or out or even on friend's computers logged out, which I had never edited on then I always saw a layout like Wikipedia's with a search bar in top right corner and nice edit, discussion tabs. Now the layout has changed for me today and I am viewing a layout with search bar on left hand side of the page and edit, discussion tabs I see on minor wikia websites. Very odd. Maybe it is a cookie, I don't know. Sir ScottPat (converse) 18:11, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
- I have disabled my
userContent
to bring the Sidebars back. I recall the search bar being on the left, but I see it at the upper right, to the right of the Edit tab, which seems damned peculiar. Ouruncyclopedia
skin should look as similar to Wikipedia as possible, and if they have broken this, it should be reported. (Or did I break it?) Spıke Ѧ 18:34 23-May-14
- I'll defer to other users to comment on whether this is abnormal. Spıke Ѧ 18:45 23-May-14
- PS--I report above that I'm not seeing what you are seeing (and what I'm seeing you're seeing). Please check your My preferences. Spıke Ѧ 19:24 23-May-14
- It says my layout is set to "Uncyclopedia (default)" as opposed to "Wikia" or "Monobook". I've never change the setting anyway. I have not tampered with any part of Uncyclopedia since yesterday. Sir ScottPat (converse) 19:29, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
- Mine has always looked like your screen shot, with the tool bar on the left hand side, except the graphic in the top left hand corner on my view is the Forum graphic while on yours its the Uncyclopedia potato. I use Monobook, and like the search slot on the left hand bar. Aleister 2:12 23-5-14
- Yes Al but I'm not and don't want to view it in Monobook form. One of the attractions to Uncyclopedia I have always thought is how it closely resembles Wikipedia and now for me it does not. Sir ScottPat (converse) 07:27, May 24, 2014 (UTC)
- PS - If it hasn't already been done could you bring this issue up with Wikia Spike? Thanks. Sir ScottPat (converse) 07:35, May 24, 2014 (UTC)
- All infoboxes appear on the left and above the text on my screen as well instead of right and aligned with the text. This may be due to this problem. Sir ScottPat (converse) 09:01, May 24, 2014 (UTC)

- I have just rattled Wikia's chains on the thumbnail problem but do not understand what is going on here sufficiently to file a bug report, though TheWikiMan026 now also reports an unwelcome change on my talk page. Please point me to a page with a broken Infobox. Anyone who does not select
uncyclopedia
skin has signaled his consent for Wikia to control their viewing experience and change it arbitrarily. Spıke Ѧ 11:41 24-May-14
Back to normal? Weird?
A couple minutes ago I was seeing what ScottPat was seeing. Now it's back to normal. Weird -- Talk 11:45, May 24, 2014 (UTC)
- I think I had pretty much the same thing as TheWikiMan a few days ago, when the skin was constantly switching from monobook to the normal one when I tried to click on any link. Apart from the ethical aspect, it seems harder to do patrolling work on recent changes with the monobook skin, but maybe you just have to get used to that. Anton (talk) 13:07, May 24, 2014 (UTC)
- Experiments, some of them unsuccessful, are indeed things we have to get used to, when doing business with a corporation that is trying to enable viewing on mobile devices and to track Wikipedia's Visual Editor. Bugs we can define, I will report (or you can), and we are almost there with Anton199's bug involving transclusion of unnumbered arguments to templates in certain situations. Spıke Ѧ 13:13 24-May-14
- I mentioned this in my "rattling of Wikia's chains" on thumbnails, and George Marbulcanti (Kirkburn) replied: "I don't know of any reason users would have intermittently been presented with the Monobook layout instead of Vector - that's quite odd. I'll mention it to the team, along with concerns about how the updated image thumbnails now differ from the Wikipedia design on Uncyc." Spıke Ѧ 16:15 24-May-14
