For everybody who said protesting wouldn't work, it did work! Fandom changed their policy because of our protest! Sites that aren't fan related won't be changed to fandom.com, they'll be changed to wikia.org. But all sites will redirect from their original address. Activism still works! DAP Dame Pleb Com. - They got a lot of complaints from people who brought up other non-fan sites, such as cancer.wikia.com. It probably had as much to do with that, if not more. Their page says:
- The communities moving to wikia.org are ones that focus on medical subjects, advocacy, history, politics, and religion. Examples of future wikia.org domains would include cancer.wikia.org, lgbt.wikia.org, world-war-2.wikia.org, and bible.wikia.org.
- I know that. That's what the protest was about. It worked! :) DAP Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 17:52, February 14, 2019 (UTC)
- That's so screwed up. They considered hosting a site called cancer.fandom.com?! A move, potentially, for monetary gain?! Uncyclopedia saved their asses. --— Imdill3 (talk) 09:59, February 25, 2019 (UTC)
- This new domain reflects the fact that not every community is about a pop culture, hobby, or fandom-related subject, with many based around creating awareness of or spreading knowledge about important historical or social topics.
- The communities moving to wikia.org are ones that focus on medical subjects, advocacy, history, politics, and religion. Examples of future wikia.org domains would include cancer.wikia.org, lgbt.wikia.org, world-war-2.wikia.org, and bible.wikia.org.
- That doesn't sound like it even includes Uncyclopedia. We'll have to wait till 4 February, their stated finalization date, and see if they think this site "is about a pop culture, hobby, or fandom-related subject". That's quite a vague topic area. Even the actual fan sites don't want this, and their concerns were totally ignored. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr • talk • contribs • 21:21 30 January 2019

Ok, I have to remember many of you are Uncyclopedia people and not overall Wikia or Fandom people. By "our protest" I mean the whole protest not just this site. If you protested, then you'e part of "our." :) DAP Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 01:22, January 31, 2019 (UTC)
- I realized you might have meant something like that after I wrote the comment. I hadn't had breakfast yet. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr • talk • contribs • 01:44 31 January 2019

- Cool. I guess there are still some hope we can have on Wikia (but I wonder why they use
wikia.org
instead ofwikia.com
).--The Pioneer JP (talk) 13:25, February 12, 2019 (UTC)- Wikia/Fandom admin (and Uncyclopedian) Sannse has promised to issue a statement as regards the domain name here. --RomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 17:13, February 12, 2019 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, here is their answer for Uncyclopedia:
- -- (talk) 12:06, February 19, 2019 (UTC)
- They aren't "changing" to wikia.com because they're already using wikia.com. A site I admin has changed over to fandom, but if you type the wikia.org address, it will redirect to the new address at fandom.com. That way all the old links will still work.
