UnScripts:The Symposium[edit]

I was bored in my computer science lecture and wrote the first half of this. I was curious as to how accessible the humor is, and if I can make it more accessible, etc. etc. It also needs a picture. The style was (lovingly!) ripped off from The Editing Room, and usually there's one picture at the top with a witty caption. An example! Any suggestions would be awesome.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  SU&W) 22:22 Sep 09, 2008

Well, because I'm too much of a softy to turn down a request, I got this one. Sig pic.PNG Unsolicited conversation Extravagant beauty PEEING 22:51, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
Humour: 7 I enjoyed the read, but it didn't make me laugh as much as some of your other works have. If I had read the real Symposium I would probably find it a whole lot funnier, but as it is now many of the jokes don't seem to work. I can see you've tried to adapt them so that those "out of the loop" can get them too, but a few of those end up being rather clichéd. I found my favorite parts to be when everything is "wacky", like when Zeus interjects with a pun and when the crowd becomes enthralled by Socrates.
Concept: 6 Not many points on concept here, mainly because this is a direct parody of another work. Still original enough to work, though, because I haven't seen an article in an ancient Greek setting before. Your background knowledge of the culture helps out a lot as well, even if it's just limited to what's in the book.
Prose and formatting: 8 Not much to complain about here. There are a couple parts that could use work stylistically, like when Phaedrus defines love the joke falls somewhat flat because the buildup takes up (about this much room), but outside of those parts it flows well.
Images: 0 YOU NEED IMAGE
Miscellaneous: 10 From what I've heard (from you), you've tackled quite a difficult and boring topic here. A big pat on the back for reading the whole thing. Also, I want to make up for the 0 image score.
Final Score: 31 A good article already, though mildly in-jokey. With some work, and the special "Skullthumper Touch"[1], this could be worked into a nice featurable article. Just work on making the jokes more accessible and this'll pass just as fast as any of your other articles that were featured really quickly. Boomer, away!
