- DUDE! WHAT THE FUCK? Why did you do that? That's no how VFD works man. The vote was not closed. Maybe it might even have been kept? If everyone starts deciding the result of a VFD vote before it's closed then what do you think would happen? Seriously man... First thing I ever saw you do wrong. MrN Fork you! 17:54, Aug 15
- Well, I was getting a strong impression that after nearly 24 hours, absolutely everyone agreed on this course of action. But, hey, I may have been wrong. pillow talk 18:08, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- You may be right in what will happen, but there is a reason why only Admins can close a vote dude. Can you fix this mess so that the other voters can finish the vote? MrN Fork you! 18:12, Aug 15
- Well, I could roll back the comment on his talk page and restore the mainspace article, although rolling back the comment seems like it would do more harm than good. For now, I'll restore the mainspace article, although it'll be a fork until it does get deleted. This is kind of part of a broader concern I have. One out of a hundred articles that show up on VFD seem to require something more complicated than "delete" or "keep". But there's no procedure for doing any of that. When the admins run through the page, they generally glance at the number of votes in each box and they either delete the article or they don't - I don't think I've ever seen anything else happen. So if the community actually thinks there's a situation where it would be helpful to do something like a pagemove and an encouraging message... the only way that can happen is if someone does it. pillow talk 18:25, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- I hear what you are saying. Probably the best way to try to get admins to move stuff to userspace is to make a comment in the comments section. Kinda like Gerry did with an explanation of why you think it should be moved to userspace. We still need to complete the vote in the normal way I think. Don't forget also, that the author can always request the article to be restored to userspace once it has been deleted... MrN Fork you! 18:37, Aug 15
- May I suggest one of the poopsmiths or admins that are involved in whatever the vote is to mark in the comment section "Decided on Userspace" or something, so that the admins can see it quickly before huffing when they come around. Maybe in bold red letters or something. Just give us something extra to look for and we'll look for it and know "when I see _______, I do this." -RAHB 04:48, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

- Well, fuck. There's nothing I hate more than this situation on VFD. A new user shows up - one with the ability to write coherent sentences, format articles well, and work diligently on something - and he spends hours slaving away at an article, and we delete it two weeks later. No, Amby is not good enough to keep, and because it's broken in concept, ICU won't help. I don't know. Maybe we should just move it into his userspace, leave a message on his talk page, and move on. pillow talk 23:23, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. This is coherent but it's just that nobody cares/knows what this is. Move it and someone leave them a nice, long, friendly praising message that encourages them to at least begin by writing about real things until they establish a reputation. --Mr. Monkey Pant-hoot here. 00:20, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

- Maybe so but here's another, more vicious angle to look at it: It's vanity about the author's stuffed toy. Although I have to admit that it is pretty freakin' cute, it should be deleted per the vanity policies. See, that wasn't so hard, was it? Now we can delete it without any guilt. --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 06:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
*userspace. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 16:25, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Guys! If you want this moved to userspace, you have to vote delete, and leave a comment to that effect in your voting reason. Just saying put it in userspace in the comments section will not make that happen... MrN Fork you! 16:45, Aug 15
- not to make a ruckus or anything MrN, but the last time i suggested in a delete vote that an article be moved to userspace, it was summarily deleted, and the author threw a tantrum in the forums. i'm not sure if it was because not enough people requested a move to userspace last time, and i'm fully aware that it's completely irrelevant anyway (as any user can request any admin to resote any article to userspace, pretty much anytime), but i just wanted to say that's why i didn't classify my vote as a delete vote. i shall, of course, reclassify my vote, should you further persuade me to do so. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 06:41, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hea Gerry, I hear you. Did you read the discussion in the delete section above? I guess what happened was that your comment in the Pox vote was missed. Probably best to make the votes in the delete section as per normal to "get it removed from mainspace" and then post a comment (maybe even in bold red) in the comments section so it's more likely to get spotted by the admin. RAHB appears to agree about that. We don't want to be moving everything we delete into userspace, but I think moving some (like this one) is maybe a good idea. MrN Fork you! 07:11, Aug 16
- yup, i agree with everything you just said. a full 99% of the deleted crap here isn't worthy of userspace, but anything coherent that's had significant effort put into it i feel bad deleting outright. SirGerrycheeversGunTalk 14:50, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

- I am also a big Lost fan - however, I felt here that this was a bit more like some sprawling fan fiction - rather than satire or parody - it's not well written, neither has there been any thought for outside readers, useful links, images, formatting etc, whether you are a lost fan or no, this article is not a good example.— Sir Sycamore (talk) 21:06, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

- I haven't even clicked on the link above so I can't vote in good faith, and it might really suck, but while I'm here defending my own obscure subject matter article I'll just add my two cents: Can't we just have niche articles? Does everything have to be clean cut, plastic-wrapped and familiar to everyone, or else it gets deleted? Wikipedia is full of articles on stuff 0.00001% of the population will ever care about, but they stay because of that 0.00001%. If it's popular subject matter that should be rewritten I can understand, but maybe some odd stuff can just subsist in obscurity for a few people to have fun with, don'chu think? --S0.S0S.0S.0S0 14:04, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
