DWP Snags in Beijing Addressed |
7 June 2008
Beijing, China -- Chinese authorities have their own special way of preparing for the Olympic Games. "Preparing for Olympic Games bring creative solutions in anticipation of cultural difficulties lack caffeine," said Huang Ju Wu Yi Zeng Peiyan Hui "Sam" Liangyu, Beijing Minister of the Interior and head of the cities cultural revolutionary committee to ban Starbuck's, through a translator. Although major sport venues show progress towards completion, basic infrastructure remains a big concern. A visiting delegation of high ranking diplomats from Beijing "sister city" Garden City, Kansas, recently nearly suffered a major catastrophe from one such problem of civic planning.
Of one concern being addressed is the way in which the Chinese Power Authority delivers electricity and phone lines to Beijing and surrounding municipalities. In an unusual display of openness, municipal departments are looking into alternative ways of approaching issues.
"Before, departments within the government had communication difficulties. Now we are pleased to say that with Western influences and communication styles, we are taking steps to increase interdepartmental harmony, in an effort to work together to bring amiable solutions." A Chinese authority stated. "We have looked into the American's and European's methodology for efficient power distribution, and are pleased to say that we have begun to incorporate some of their practices."
At a recent symposium at Bejing University, DWP leaders, DMV authorities, Bejing Hospital Critical Care Physicians and Nurses, and about a Chinese dozen Schwinn dealers met to observe slide show demonstrations and footage of vehicular/power pole and bicyclist/power pole accidents and to discuss alternative alternatives for road/powerpole placement. "But this is the way we've always done it." and "Who are you to tell me what to do?" stated DWP Assistant Operations Manager "Harold" Ling. "No one else has complained about it!".
