Alexander (alternatively known as Dave) or Technoblade pig+++.png was an American YouTuber famous for his many Minecraft videos, his jokes about orphans, his usage of slavery in SkyBlock, and his hot elbows. He made many videos, particularly focused around his grand exploits on Hypixel. He died in June 2022 of cancer.

SkyBlock[edit]

Technoblade made a variety of SkyBlock videos, the most notable ones being the three parts of the Great Potato War. Technoblade debuted SkyBlock in 2019 with the video "the hypixel skyblock experience". His next videos revolved around gaining several stat boosts, where he became the player with the highest speed and found a way to fly in SkyBlock.

Great Potato War[edit]

“Whatever you do, don't show all your techniques in a YouTube video. You fool, you moron.”

~ Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Part 1[edit]

The war began with Technoblade's ambition to become the number one potato farmer on SkyBlock. Technoblade quickly rose through the ranks, citing Sun Tzu quotes along the way. Technoblade met his biggest challenge and topic for the next two videos while in second place in the player im_a_squid_kid, who was the current first place potato farming. Noting Sun Tzu's wisdom,[1] Technoblade exposed a flaw[2] in im_a_squid_kid's farming technique, which allowed him to sabotage his potato production by AFKing on his island. While his alt account was AFKing, Technoblade invested in improving his potato production rate by upgrading his minions and providing them with boosts. Using this technique, Technoblade reached the number one spot in potato farming.

Part 2[edit]

“You may have won the battle, but you will not win the war.”

~ im_a_squid_kid on Technoblade's success in reaching potato farmer number one

Following Technoblade's release of the video, several people began to feel sorry for im_a_squid_kid (not so much the minions that were definitely harmed in the process of making the video) and donated several items required to expand his farm to him. Hurt at this sudden betrayal, and heart heavy with the knowledge that his viewers had just helped his greatest enemy, Technoblade retaliated by sending an arrangement of henchmen to collect such items by any means possible.[3] As both players raced to craft the Catalyst, an object that increased minion speed exponentially, they both insulted each other, so they were each greatly offended.

Late life and death[edit]

Technolade was diagnosed with cancer after noticing swelling of his shoulder and arm pain. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and normal therapy proved unsuccessful. His oncologist revealed that, considering the current symptoms, amputation at the arm could prove necessary. Dream reacted to the diagnosis by temporarily forgetting about their rivalry and donating $21,409 to cancer research. In 2021, a charity livestream was hosted and later in the year Technoblade's arm was saved. Despite all of these efforts toward Techno's health, Alexander "Dave" Technoblade died in late June. The video that announced this was voiced by Mr. Technodad, Technoblade's father.

Technoblade's death was met with global mourning. June 30 became known as Technoblade Remembrance Day and many prominent figures like Elon Musk disclosed their sadness. The adage, "When pigs fly" was simultaneously disproved when Technoblade sprouted wings and became the Technobim, a celestial guardian of potatoes sporting wings, a crown, and a pig's countenance.

The following days were composed of strict mourning and eating of starchy tubers.

Legacy[edit]

After Technoblade's death, Mr. Technodad, Dream, TommyInnit, Skeppy, and other acquaintances of Technoblade would make videos remembering his death. Surprisingly, a second video was posthumously released, meaning that either Technodad was continuing the channel or that Technoblade was reincarnated, much like the immortal jellyfish.[4]
