Ipswich is the name of a city chosen as a tongue-twister to punish people with lack of motor coordination and speech skills. Grammar-school pupils can be brought to tears by being stood in front of the class and asked to pronounce it.

There are several Ipswiches in the world:

• Ipswich, Suffolk is the county town of Suffolk, which is in Mediocre Britain.
• Ipswich, Queensland is the Australian version, the birthplace of that country's Bogan culture.
• New Ipswich, New Hampshire is the Yankee version, though it is shown on the official state map as New Ispwich. It has a population of 5,099, none of them Uncyclopedians.
• In mainframe computing, the nearest thing is the IPL (initial program load) switch.
