Uncyclopedia.wikia.com could be moved to Uncyclopedia.fandom.com as early as next week. Admin DAP Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 02:25, October 27, 2018 (UTC)

"We've appreciated all of your feedback about how non-pop culture communities fit into the fandom.com domain structure." Sure you have. At least they didn't do like DeviantArt and completely eliminate subdomains in favor of deviantart.com/username. It could be worse, see. Looks like they were planning on doing this earlier than they actually did, though. It's not "early October" anymore. Overworked and understaffed I suppose.
Maybe the outcome of this testing will be that they realize it's not a good idea, but it probably won't. They should have at least called themselves Wikifandom so they wouldn't be using an unqualified generic word, but "wiki" is dirty to them. They're "communities", not "wikis". They're all part of one brand, like MediaWiki was never meant to be. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 02:53 27 October 2018
Stumbled across that announcement earlier. To follow: "some news about how we’ll be handling non-pop culture communities" -- could that include Uncyclopedia? --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 03:04, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
We Aim to Displease. No crappy adverts either. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:36, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
Wikia-now-Fandom, unlike the Wikimedia Foundation (Wikipedia+) is a for-profit corporation. Like it or not, they have to do what they can to make money or they'll go out of business. Wikis aren't nearly as popular as they were a few years ago, so they rebranded. It's hard to imagine I'd be thinking about the "good old days" of the Internet, but, well, the times they are a-changin'. Also you new folks might want to study up on how to do indents on messages. You do post after the message you're responding to, but you also indent one space--and only one space--from the message you're responding to. Back in the day when there were dozens of people posting, that was the only way you could know who was responding to what. I'm surprised my Mommy hasn't posted a lecture on that yet. I suspect she knows more about how wikia works over all than some staff members. Fuck you, you pedant. When I'm tired, I make mistakes, apparently unlike you. Your troll post is a perfect example of why people don't post as much as they did "back in the day". --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 23:22, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
It may be rude to post an entire paragraph about it instead of simply fixing the mistake, but that's not an acceptable way to make that point. Let's all stay on topic now, shall we? ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 00:09 28 October 2018
Somebody have a bad day? Really, if you get upset over something like that, you never would have survived "back in the day." I got upset about somebody talking about raping me, that when I was 14 years old, and they thought I was being overly sensitive. Admin DAP Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 17:50, October 28, 2018 (UTC)
Upset? This is how us former inner city kids talk to each other. We didn't use words like "pedant", though. RE: back in the day -- you ought to take a look at the sysop comments about/to vandals and spammers in the block log before I baleet the old bans, comments that the IPs would never read. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 19:00, October 28, 2018 (UTC)
Future note, when I say in one paragraph what I could say in one sentence, it's probably because I'm either trying to be polite or tongue-in-cheek. Or I'm just long-winded. In addition, I still don't understand the whole thing about saying "f-you." Why is saying you want to have sex with someone considered an insult? The Wikipedians are discussing a related phrase. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 20:59 28 October 2018
I figured that thread would get long. But I already said all I'm going to say there. Admin DAP Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 02:50, November 1, 2018 (UTC)
I missed that one. Weird, because I just had a conversation about this today. If i remember correctly, the "vulgar" words were originally part of the Latin Vulgate, which the upper crust used. When the middle classes started using the same words, the upper crust switched to French so that those using the Vulgate would look, well, vulgar. I hope the words get used so much they go back to being regular words. Then if we want to insult someone, we look ignorant if we say something like "son of a bitch." We'll have to me more creative, like, "Thou son and heir of a mongrel bitch!" A.L.???| doesn't remember Lyrithya! 03:15, November 1, 2018 (UTC)

I wasn't particularly "upset" and wasn't having a bad day (I thought Nigel was -- wait, who's talking to whom up there? I'm confused). ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 19:57 28 October 2018

Let's put our clothes back on and return to the light. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:26, October 28, 2018 (UTC)

For everybody who said protesting wouldn't work, it did work! Fandom changed their policy because of our protest! Sites that aren't fan related won't be changed to fandom.com, they'll be changed to wikia.org. But all sites will redirect from their original address. Activism still works! Admin DAP Dame Pleb Com.
