Forum:UnBooks stuff
Yeah, UnBooks. So... I took a look at the UnBooks:Main Page today, and it's kinda out of date. So I looked a bit further and found voting pages no-one's looked at in ages - Sycamore's the only one to have edited that one this year, for instance. Looks like there's not much interest in voting on UnBooks and so forth at the moment (apart from AotM), which is understandable - there's enough to vote on around here already, and UnBooks is hardly a priority. But I'd say there is a point in keeping the UnBooks page up-to-date, and not leaving it with a bunch of August '07 "features" on it.
So, as I'm now looking after the HowTo main page in a similar style, I'm suggesting I (or someone else if you prefer) take on regularly updating that page, abandoning the featured UnBook votes thing, and regularly (weekly?) featuring a decent recent read (possibly one that's had a good pee review, if you don't want it to be beholden just to the personal taste of whoever looks after the UnBooks page). That way, we're not asking people to vote on more stuff again, but the UnBooks page doesn't look hopelessly out of date.
Post any objections below. If there are none after the precise timeframe of a few days, I'll go ahead and make a few changes over there. Of course, if there are any objections from people who want more stuff to vote on, we could always have a vote here about how best to do this. Whatever. Thoughts, anyone? --SirU.U.Esq. - I like this idea, it was one I was just on the cusp of having myself. In fact I'd be glad to help you out with this if you want/need. Have Fun!MuCal. Orian57 03:45 13 June 2008
- Cool, well the exact second that the "a few days" time limit is up, if there are no objections, I'd be glad of your help Orian. --SirU.U.Esq. VFH | GUN | Natter | Uh oh | Pee 13:56, Jun 13
Can I have my Olympic Book on up for like a month or so before/during the olympics? -- 14:44, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Okay, that's precisely a few days, so I'm getting started. I'll be shifting a few bits about in the next few days trying to get the place to work a bit betterer again. Sycamore's book is now the current feature, and a few other changes will be implemented shortly. May well go to a book of the fortnight, as there are plenty to choose from at the moment. Then DJI's could go up during the Olympic opening ceremony, and someone elses's two weeks later. Anyway, yeah, glad to see no-one objected to me making more work for myself! ;-) --SirU.U.Esq. I'm gonna take some responsibility for this
You can blame me for not maintaining UnBooks any more but it's good to see that other people have taken over and are updating it. Do as you wish, though if nobody is voting for featured UnBooks, I suggest someone periodically update the feature template with a recent UnBook anyway - that's what I used to do (more often than not, actually).
