Update: I have removed the old recent news template from the front page. Ithas been replaced with a template listing UnNews stories. From now on please put links to new UnNews stories here instead of in recent articles. You can find the link to the template on the UnNews "Write an Article" help sheet. If you know of another place to put a link to it on the UnNews main page, please do so.

Still unresolved is the issue of featuring UnNews. I would be willing to run a VFUnNews page if there is a groundswell for selecting the top stories that way. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 23:06, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

WE NEED TO CHANGE "IN THE NEWS" AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It sucks. Seriously. Let's change it to a dynamic UnNews list with blurbs controlled by admins. Seriously. The stuff on there makes me want to puke it's so lame. -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 20:33, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

I was thinking that UnNews is starting to reach the point of having some fantastically good articles that are well worth featuring but that it might not fit the motif to feature them as standard articles. They really are a different sort of thing than most articles. Anyone else have any views on the matter? --Sir gwax (talk) Signuke.gif 15:22, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Definately, just looking at VFH there are at least a couple nommed. However, alot of these against votes were due to size issues, which is understandable for a "news" article. I think it's about time we make an UnNews VFH and feature them... somewhere. HOMESTAR ME!!! TURTLE ME!!! t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 23:41, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
maybe we could vote in unnews for which storys are featured in there instead of anyone filling it with their crap ;)--Da, Y?YY?YYY?:-:CUN3 NotM BLK |_LG8+::: 23:35, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Excellent idea, yyy. I am for it. -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 23:39, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Makes sense, since UnNews articles aren't regular articles. --OsirisX 05:38, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Having a voted-in featured news story on the front page of Uncyclopedia would be a damn fine thing, as UnNews is of surprisingly high quality. Certainly higher than the Uncyclopedia new article feed. As for what to do with the UnNews front page, I suppose that could be a spinoff from the main front page feature - David Gerard 16:27, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Is it just me, or has there been a recent surge in UnNews quantity and quality? -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 16:54, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
I think that's why it's about time we have an UnNews featured article. HOMESTAR ME!!! TURTLE ME!!! t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 17:02, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Personally I like it as it is, it is updated frequently, and there is a fresh supply of good articles. We need not feature one to showcase the good work, nearly all of them are good. ~Sir Rangeley Icons-flag-us.png GUN WotM UotM EGA +S (talk) 05:00, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I suspect it's because it takes actualy effor to post an UnNews story....--The Right Honourable Maj Sir Elvis UmP KUN FIC MDA VFH Bur. CM and bars UGM F@H (Petition) 16:17, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
I suspect it's also because the standards are different. The Lockheed U2 story was in article space and I spotted it as an NRV. I realised it was really UnNews, and put it there. Just changing the namespace, hence the expectations, made it a pretty good story - David Gerard 18:43, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I think there's a conflict here. I agree with Rangeley that the majority of UnNews articles these days are good, and an impressive proportion are great. I feel like the main purpose of having a featured news story would be to get those articles off VFH - which might be good in that it would make the Main Page featured articles more encyclopedic, but it also means that great UnNews articles would probably get less attention, which I think is unfair. We'd also need someone to manage an UnNews VFH. --—rc (t) 19:39, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I FOUND THE SOLUTION: What if we just take away all those short and, (more frequently than not), unfunny news titles from the "In the news" section of the frontpage, and we replace them by longer and funny featured news stories. I know it will look less like WP, but it will be much funnier, (and that's the main thing I think) while still resembeling it.--Rataube 23:27, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I actually think that would make it more like WP because the headlines will be actual newsy. For. -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 23:42, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Kill Template:Recentnews and promote UnNews at the same time? Oh Yes Please. Just use a dynamic list of recent UnNews stories and cap it at 10. Or maybe a 5/5 (7/3?) split with UnNews Audio? ~ T. (talk) 05:02, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Ooh, that sounds sexy. Possibly a page like UnNews:Story title here/blurb for a one line wikicode that can get included via a template. --Splaka 05:08, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
For, one suggestion though, featured news stories should have an audio counterpart. --OsirisX 06:11, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Ooh, me likey. However, there is still the question of what to do with great UnNewses; perhaps the In The News could be filled with a randomly generated list of articles that have been voted superior? --Hobelhouse 00:40, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
