Uncyclopedia:Sharing articles

This page is considered a policy on Uncyclopedia. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow, unless they don't want to, in which case they are free to ignore it so long as they're not being a dick. Please make use of the standing on one knee position to propose to this policy.

Sad to say, this website is not the world's only satire wiki! There are several other wikis pursuing amateur comedy writing and even resembling an encyclopedia.

This policy is in place not so much for legal reasons, as it is just a basic courtesy that the writer of an article can choose where it ends up.

Sharing and what it is

The legal document that governs material written here allows it to be copied anywhere for non-commercial use provided that the authors are given credit for their work.

Sharing means copying an Uncyclopedia article to another wiki. The benefits are that more people can read it. However, you need to get the consent of every registered Uncyclopedian who edited the article. Some users don't wish for their work to appear on other websites, for a variety of reasons.

When is it ok

• When you are the sole writer of an article, whether you copy it to other wikis is entirely your call.
• If you have collaborated on an article, it is strongly advised that you gain permission from everyone involved in the process of building your article before you share.
• If you haven't written the article but have the permission of the author, you can also share it.
• Sharing on behalf of a user that has already stated that they are always willing to share their work. See the list at the bottom.

When is it not

• When it isn't your work and you haven't asked for permission. Material from other websites brought here without the consent of the authors will be deleted no matter how good the article is. It isn't your article to share.
• If you wrote a page somewhere else but there is already an article (with different content) here. If you think your version is better, nominate it on Votes for deletion and point to your version as a replacement.

HowTo do it

• Copy and paste the source. Not recommended, as the page history won't come with it.
• Export and Import is by far the best option although only admins can import. If you are an admin, you can simply use Special:Export and Special:Import, if you are not, contact an administrator and they'll do it for you.
• Don't forget to upload the images.
