Talk:Plagiarism
I suggest that we trash this page and copy wikipedia's page on plagiarism directly ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagiarism ). Thus, this page will become self reflective.

- You know I was just about to suggest this same idea myself, but I see it's already been done. I definitely think we should do this, as long as Wikipedia doesn't get too annoyed with it. --ObliVioNT 20:53, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
I have (slightly) plagiarized this page on the Nonciclopedia, the Italian version of Uncyclopedia. However, I was too lazy to actually plagiarize something, so it isn't much of a plagiarism. Still. http://nonciclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Plagio - 213.140.22.71 12:29, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Why doesn't somebody just copy some other random page from Wikipedia about some famous history person and paste it here? Why am I talking to people from July 2006? Benson 22:31, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- I ditto that. And you are talking to them for the benefit of people from the future, like me. The thing about the current version is that nobody's going to go "Hah! This is just like the famous Wikipedia article!" I've got a different idea I'm working on... in the meantime, sure, be bold and pick a favorite historical figure. But keep in mind that all your work will go to waste when I've had a go...—Lenoxus 19:16, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Original v. Ripoff[edit]
How would something along the lines of Image:Plagiarism.png sound? -- Contestant CUN -- VFH NotM Buzz Ctrbs 22:16, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hilarious, but only if it's done properly - i.e. with a proper logo replacement up top and everything. Just a picture within the page wouldn't do it, I don't think. --Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 23:00, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think it is possible to replace Sophia, so we can't quite make this look exactly like a Wikipedia page. I "rewrote" the page Blackout recently, which shows you what parts of a page can and can't be removed/replaced. Of course, Nihilism manages to remove pretty much everything except Sophia, but the code is very confusing. Also, I suggest you look at the code for User:Spang to see how you can place images anywhere on the page. Sir Cs1987 UOTM. t. c 14:31, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- It is possible to replace Sophia. See something like Freedom of Expression which might be less confusing than Nihilism... admittedly it's not replacing whole picture, but I guess the method is generalisable. You might need to use a transparent picture if you want to overlap other bits, I dunno... Try it out on the test page you created, since it's there. -- Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 23:36, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Rewrite[edit]
This page needs a complete rewrite. Copying the entire Wikipedia page not funny: it's clever, and it's an interesting concept, but it aint funny. Its a sophomore college student, David Foster Wallace-wannabe's idea of funny. Its an I-finished-the-Derrida-reader-and-look-at-how-cleverly-postmodern-and-self-referential-we-are statement. But it simply is page after page of unfunny! The strike-through at the top of the page is a nice touch, but the rest of the page simply aint gonna make anyone laugh. User:SweetJebus 15:11:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- As long as it's enough people's idea of funny, it's fine. Meta-humour isn't everyone's cup of tea, but some of us like it very much. --Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 13:18, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- What about suggesting in the start of the article that common plagiarism can be avoided by changing the font style/colo(u)rs and adding useless pictures, and then do so throughout, keeping the same body of text? I put in the Family Guy Whoops. I thought it was funny, and that's what matters. Don Alun (Sorry, no tildes on this strange Aussie keyboard)
- Wait, are you saying this idea is clever? I had this idea, so it can't possibly be clever. Kpmartin18

What's the point of plagiarising Wikipedia when Wikipedia is constantly changing (being edited)? 69.209.114.120 16:00, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
It's not you idiot half the articles are locked
P.S. you should visit this article, tis your type Stupid
Lack of lies[edit]
This article contains way too many correct statements. We need to start claiming obviously wrong things. I like the Wikipedia cut'n paste as much as you guys do. That is funny for like a min, but it's not fun in the long run. If we could just slightly adjust the plagiarized text to make it have more lies, we could solve this problem.

"From Wikipedia" thing under title[edit]
Is there some way we can add "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" right under the title of the article like they have on Wikipedia? I tried simply adding it to the start of the article but it didn't look right, it was too low and slightly too big. Is there some kind of hack or template that would allow us to do it properly? --Atomik Spongeface • Ⓣ Ⓒ 23:47, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

CARLOS MENCIA![edit]
I added a little Carlos Mencia reference on the top of the page, so that people wouldn't get confused.
