Talk:Kathy Griffin

I restored the page to an earlier version about 3-4 edits ago. Someone took out the best jokes and failed to understand the humour in which it was written. All the edits added were repetitive like " Her parents drink boxes of wine" (funny to a 5 year old) and other overly defensive fangirl edits like removing her janitorial tasks on Broadway. NOT here thanks! The preceding unsigned comment was added by Olliewasabi (talk • contribs)

To be clear, you did so before selecting your user name, but that's fine. This article has been the victim both of anonymous vandalism and I think of the work of a publicist trying to sanitize it so it's hardly still funny. Your edits look like improvements. I'd also watch out for the Discography and Fun Facts, always enticing for Anons to edit even though they can't formulate a complete paragraph. I've posted a Welcome message to your talk page. Well Kathy's career was in the crapper, so she decided to make a video of herself doing an ISIS head chop of Donald Trump, and it somehow backfired. Then when CNN fired her, she claimed she was being bullied by the Internet and Trump? I'd like to add in some modern stuff and pictures off the Internet as well. 06:18, June 3, 2017 (UTC) The preceding unsigned comment was added by Orion Blastar (talk • contribs)
Today's edits are not good enough yet. Regarding Griffin's notorious photo-shoot holding a severed head of the President in effigy, it reads as though your goal is to ridicule her by publicizing this episode as though we were a conservative weblog, rather than a satire encyclopedia peppered with conservatives. Sprinkling in some fake fan-fiction doesn't help, and especially "covfefe" (a typo? in a Trump tweet) will be as cryptic to the reader in a couple months as it already is to most of the nation. A photo of Trump's severed head was tasteless when Griffin did it and is still tasteless here unless you do more work to make it funny in a new way (a way other than "look what jerks the left are"). Firstly, my main goal was to neutralise one of the worst additions to this page by another user. It was not funny and the grammar was the worst possible. I have no idea how you came to the conclusion that it was a pro-conservative addition. I am as left as they come. Objectively the stunt was appalling by anyone's standards. I was being kind by maintaining the essence of Orion Blastar's addition. The general tone regarding Kathy Griffin on this page is playfully critical, to depart from this would stick out like a sore thumb. It scans and reads well to me. I am not a professional comedian or writer as you can tell. If you feel it is not good enough, I'd be open to any changes made. Regards, Olliewasabi

Rush Limbaugh is "playfully critical," and also dead serious. The guideline at Poe's Law will explain where I'm coming from. We should indeed "depart from this" or we are reporting, with a whiff of advocacy that perhaps you did not intend, rather than writing comedy. Separately, two wrongs don't make a right. (PS--Please reread "How to post to talk pages" in the Welcome on your user talk page, on signing/timestamping posts.) Spıke 🎙️12:46 3-Jun-17
Aw, never mind. Youse's contributions are at least about something, in comparison to a lot of the other crap in this article. But try to merge the 2017 effigy beheading stuff in a single section, rather than in two places with the horrible link word "aforementioned." Spıke 🎙️02:59 4-Jun-17
I tried to tie in the part about the beheading controversy with the later remark in the article about ketchup-based fake blood. Hopefully the joke about Trump being allergic to ketchup works here. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 04:20, June 4, 2017 (UTC)
Hi Spike. Can't the contributions only be as good as the life of the person in question? She has done something in stark contrast from the rest of her relatively mild career. Olliewasabi (talk) 05:05, June 4, 2017 (UTC)

I merged the Trump controversy together, got rid of 'aforementioned'. Olliewasabi (talk) 05:15, June 4, 2017 (UTC)
