Merger of FORTRAN and Fortran[edit]
It is astonishing that we had two articles, but we did. Fortran was more fanciful, FORTRAN was based closer to the facts. Both were active a couple years ago, less so currently, and both had passages of gassiness. On 14-Oct-09, I made Fortran redirect to FORTRAN, merged the content, minced some words, and added about 25%, including giving the name of John Backus a more alcoholic spelling (which I once did in a technical manual by mistake), the stuff about the Dark Lord, the first paragraph of "Innovations" (which is closely based on fact), clean rooms with raised floors, GUI, and cargo cults. I also devised the current section headings. Spıke Ѧ 11:57, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Removal of the 4chan Whoops template[edit]
Okay, for some reason, this SPIKE guy keeps undoing the edits made to add a "Whoops! Did you mean 4chan?" template. This is utter bullcrap. There's no real reason it should be removed, and if you think about it, FORTRAN DOES rhyme with 4chan. Which is why I put it there. Just a minor edit to add humor that should not be rebuked. It should stay. SPIKE, if you have some CRAZY reason why it should not stay, please do so here. --BoctorRodotnik 02:36, April 9, 2010 (UTC)
- As I said in the change history: This article will not be improved by {{Whoops}}, nor by other templates, grues, Chuck Norris, or Oscar Wilde. It is pursuing a different type of humor. Regardless of what rhymes with what. Spıke Ѧ 10:18 9-Apr-10
Dian Shi Mali[edit]
Apparently Fortran is also a badly drawn Mario with pale skin and gum disease. Google push start to rich
to learn more. Anyone care to work this in? --Tepples 05:18, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
- Well spotted! Perhaps pale skin and gum disease is endemic in Hong Kong. I have worked it in. On the other hand, I've reverted your original change. No one knows Matlab. Come to think of it, no one knows CPL, which the original article had. (And who told you anyone here cares about which is the more accurate analog to FORTRAN?!) Thanks again. Spıke Ѧ 13:11 22-May-10
