Don't forget WWII itself, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the American Civil War, cancer, heart disease, the War on Terror, Viet Nam, etc, etc, all of which killed more people than the attacks of 9/11 and are made fun of somewhere in the Uncyclopedia. Personally, I think the writer of the article is seriously messed up, but he has the right to be that way. I get their point, they just worded it poorly. I think it's just something recent. When my bro was flying a plane in GTA San Andreas over the city, I pointed out buildings to crash into and was chastised. Ditto with showing my mom the Legos 9-11 movie by Andrew Kepple. In short, it's controversial because it's recent. (Apparently five years is still quite recent.) This is why this user finds this page more offensive than the many, many, many pages regarding the second-most lethal person in existence, Hitler. (More people died in Jesus' name, hence the second-most lethal title.) • Gotta point out there's a whole load of jokes on the subject of smoking, too. That has killed more than 9/11, the Holocaust, Stalin etc etc etc all put together. To joke about 9/11 "is funny" is dumb, more akin to the Holocaust, slavery, the Trail of Tears (I'm of Cherokee Indian descent), the Berlin Wall, communism, genocide, wars in every country, and other traumatizing events on the people who were personally affected by it. The point is to make fun of the enemies, we're laughing AT them and I pray to God that Osama Bin Laden is a skeleton piled up in some cave in the Northwest Province, Pakistan. Of course, joking is a way humans deal with horror, although the rule of the game "It's how you say it or the kind of words, and smile at the end, as well point out our own errors in how we deal with the subject".

How about watching risque TV comedies: Hogan's Heroes, All in the Family, Married with Children, Roseanne, South Park and Family Guy? They deal with usually "taboo" subjects on torture, racism, sexism, class disparity, homosexuality and political issues from abortion to xenophobia through the use of comedy, parody, schtick and satire. Many people take some offense to jokes about alcoholism, cancer, drug use, divorce, domestic violence, illegitimacy, interracial love, pedophilia, religious beliefs and sexual references, but the majority who are hard-core fans of these programs LOVE it. I'm sure more TV comedies and standup performances are now easily joking about 9/11 without crossing the line of morality, ethics and sensitivity to the victims' families; you got to know the line. + PotatoSmut 13:17, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Let's re-open this debate: I'm not going to vandalize it, but I think it ought to be deleted immediately. 9/11 wasn't funny, and anyone who has any respect for the victims of that terrible attack ought to agree - even if you don't support the War on Terror. 9/11 wasn't funny, but this article is-- well occasionally, at least. You have to admit the tetris thing is hilarious. Think of any tragedy that ever befell mankind. It's on this site. Somewhere. Being made fun of. Most of Uncyclopedia is a parody of Jesus Christ. Humor puts things in perspective, particularly when the event is so veiled in a nationalist fog as 9/11. I was one year old when 9/11 occurred. I do not find this article funny. Terrorist attacks like 9/11 are nothing to joke about. Thousands of people died that day, and that is not a laughing matter. I do not agree that any subject here should be taboo. See our extensive line regarding Hitler/Nazism and our pulling of Jesus in two dozen directions. I believe that tasteless treatment of a tragedy is not the best comedy strategy, and that tastelessness without comedy at all should be edited or deleted. Rstrong, if you agree with Anon, then you should open a ballot at Votes for deletion. Anon can do so too, after picking a user name. One quibble to him: most of our articles have no exclusive "author," and in most cases where one did, he has moved on. I don't think I have the energy required to do an overhaul of content for a major article like this one, and considering all the work so many people has put into this article, I don't believe in deleting it from the wiki either.
