A Dog is a typical pet. It makes the ideal drinking buddy.

A pet is an animal that a person owns, or thinks he owns, or is owned by, or would like it if it returned home because it has been three days and the neighbors' dogs are not even in heat.

Warning. Animal activists in the enlightened parts of the world warn us that "ownership" of pets is an archaic concept akin to slavery and it would be better to let Fido roam wild, contract mange and rabies, and lose limbs in fights with larger animals. Also, feeding him the same thing every day out of a fifty-pound sack is torture, no less than waterboarding. A family pet should never have to eat anywhere with fewer than three stars in the Michelin Guide.
