Kompromat (Загрязнен американских in Russian) is a chain of Russian reverse laundry establishments where clothing and belongings come out dirtier than when they first go in. Kompromats can usually be found in the basements of expensive hotels catering for the foreigners hostile to President Vladimir Putin. In comparison, if you want a money cleaning service then the helpful 'Blatnoy Kabin' will provide that for a percentage.

Kompromats were first established by the Tsars but then greatly enhanced by Vladimir Lenin in the early days of the Soviet Union. They were one of the many 'hold overs' that were allowed to flourish in the post-Communist Russia following the break up the USSR.

Dishing the Dirt[edit]

Kompromats were initially unsuccessful as Russian technology in dry cleaning was decades behind the Americans and the Germans. However, the addition of some tempting offers left in the windows offering the pleasures of 'Honey Pot Anna' and 'Discreet but Disgraceful Olga' encouraged a steady stream of customers. That getting your clothes cleaned at the Kompromat also involved having your room wired for sound and pictures was obviously not in the contract. The Russians in the end decided to build all hotels with sneaky security 'enhancements' but had problems with steam in bathrooms. This is why those who thought they were being spied on would conduct all business inside there, including sexual encounters. Most of course did not know and event those who did thought they were 'too unimportant to have their bedroom antics covered'. But the Russians liked keeping copious notes, a legacy from the days of Stalin.

Uses today[edit]

Smile for the cameras.

Kompromats can be still found inside many Russian hotels but today they're often giving fancy Swiss names so as to disguise their true purpose. The Americans did the same at some of their hotels where they expected Russian or customers from the old Eastern Block. But they never got the hang of this game.

But Americans are not good at kinky undercover games unless invited to parties held by J. Edgar Hoover. What he did with vacuum cleaners...anyway (is anyone listening to this article??), the Americans would ofter posit the hypothetical question: 'Does George approve ?'. So instead the USA relied on their seedy British allies to provide the necessary filth on required foreigners. The British being cynical hypocrites and having more in common with the Russians than they cared to admit.
