In this forum topic, it was suggested we remove the bullet point/square thing from the table of contents boxes to match wikipedia. I thought I'd ask here before going ahead with it, even though it's not that major a change. Comparisons between the different styles can be seen in the other forum topic. For the record, I'm for removing the bullet points. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 06:32, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and if all the css-capable admins die before a decision is made, add the following code to MediaWiki:Common.css to activate this powerup:
.toc ul { list-style-image: none; list-style-type: none }

Hey, turns out wikipedia's TOC was more different than I first thought. I've implemented the 100% copied version now. And I feel awfully lonely in this discussion. The poll doesn't count. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 06:03, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- you feel lonely and i feel guilty for having initiated something nobody wants to discuss. but it was sorely needed - the poll does suggest that. interestingly, i copied a section of a country-article from wikipedia because it was a parody of itself and within a few hours the parent article was edited with some of the funny bit removed and a nice message left in its "history" about what wikipedia is or isnot -- and that when the funny bit now edited out had been added almost 3 days ago and the wikipedia hawks hadn't noticed it till i happened to mention it here (the page is high traffic and gets several edits each day -- it might also have been just a coincidence, i know). so it's not that we are not being watched and i wouldn't be surprised if the blokes at wikip. now decide to switch to the bulleted version of displaying contents. -- mowgli 07:33, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- These polls do tend to limit discussion somewhat, don't they? In some cases that's probably a good thing - anything where personal animosities might develop between individual users, for example, or anything that involves the hiring of paid assassins. But even then, if the question is simply philosophical, such as whether to hire male or female paid assassins, and if female, whether or not the assassins should be sexy female assassins or the non-sexy, Rosa Krebs type, then a poll probably isn't appropriate. Needless to say, there's always a "feeling-out" process with any innovation, polls (and sexy female assassins) included. c • > • cunwapquc? 15:03, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- lol, but true. i think anon. polls should be de rigueur. but somehwere there is a line, i know, but where it is i really don't know. now let me go over and vote in the "the voting system" forum since i've decided to open my big fat mouth. -- mowgli 18:43, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
