When are we going to update the font and everything so we look like a direct parody of Wikipedia? --Nikau (talk) 07:15, September 18, 2014 (UTC)
- We've been pursuing that on multiple fronts over the summer, including overriding our webhost Wikia, which has changed several things to try to establish an identity separate from Wikipedia. (For starters, read Forum:I think I fixed the sprite and Forum:Thumbnails are broken.)
- Looking like a direct parody of Wikipedia (while reading unlike Wikipedia) is assumed to be a primary goal of everyone who selects the
uncyclopedia
skin, or who lets us select it for him. Users who select a different skin must want Uncyclopedia to look and work like any other Wikia wiki. - So be sure you have selected
uncyclopedia
, everybody get together on which Wikipedia skin we are setting out to imitate, and tell me exactly what "font and everything" is wrong. Spıke Ѧ 11:28 18-Sep-14- By 'font and everything' I can only assume he means the typography refresh (the link will tell you everything you need to know). ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr • talk • contribs • 23:37 18 September 2014
- But isn't that a different skin, though? Isn't our default skin a unique 'Uncyclopdia' one? --Nikau (talk) 17:06, September 19, 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. Wikipedia's default skin is Vector, and Wikia refuses to install Vector so we have modified Monobook to look as much like Vector as possible (or so we like to think). The 'Uncyclopedia' and 'Monobook' skins are separate for no obvious reason; Uncyclopedia is what you see by default, whereas Monobook is what you see if you select Monobook in your preferences, and the CSS and JS files are separate for each. Uncyclopedia has been modified to look like Vector, whereas Monobook has not. There, that was probably more than you wanted to know. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr • talk • contribs • 20:43 19 September 2014
- Please try again: "we have modified Monobook to look...like Vector....Uncyclopedia has been modified to look like Vector, whereas Monobook has not." I spend no time on Vector but only try to ensure that
Uncyclopedia
resembles Wikipedia. In my opinion, all we need is Wikipedia mode and Wikia mode, and we really don't want to try to mimic every possible Wikipedia skin. Spıke Ѧ 21:11 19-Sep-14- Looking like Wikipedia means mimicking Vector, because Wikipedia's default skin is Vector and the default skin is what most readers see. I didn't say anything about any other Wikipedia skin. Where did we jump the tracks? ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr • talk • contribs • 21:17 19 September 2014
