Forum:It's that time of year again: Fundraising!
Wikimedia fundraising, specifically. As a proper parody, we simply must mimic them, but currently I've got squat of ideas how (or time, for that matter), so this year I feel like leaving it all up to you. Instead of just mostly. What shall we do? What sort of banners shall we use? Hmm?
You can use this page to make your own notice templates; directions for the horrible template are on the horrible template page (another thing I don't have time to fix, unfortunately), and you can see Wikimedia's notices here. Dreadful, aren't they?
Anyway, unless this is a really terrible idea and I should be shot, please add whatever you come up with here, or something? We can sort out details later. ~ 20:13, 28 October 2011
- Well, I made this one last year, if you want to use it. -- 20:22, October 28, 2011 (UTC)
- The writing on the right is a bit off. Perhaps I shall make one of my own and then we could alternate between a few. -- PLEB SIR Lollipop (TALK) - updated on 28 October 2011, at 21:14
- Guess what, I made one too. But seriously, Magic Man's is hilarious. Wonder what yours will be like should you make it, Lollipop. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by EpicAwesomeness (talk • contribs)
- Magic's is great, but it'd be nice to have a few different ones. --Black Flamingo 16:44, October 29, 2011 (UTC)
- Mmm, the idea of it is certainly lovely, but it just doesn't fit, especially with the fancy fonts and such. EpicAwesomeness' certainly intrigues me, but that may just be the blood, for all I know. Question is, why would we want to shoot them? Presently I'd say MadMax's pile are looking the best - follow the style of the Wikimedia ones and have some decent in-jokes, though the images would certainly need to be cleaned up. Good starts, but we'll have to see where the WMF folks go with this, too.

An IP also contributed this one - basic, but rather... accurate. ~ 01:04, 30 October 2011
- Not bad. I like how there isn't actually an X to click. Maybe if there was a way to also incorporate the hobo-ness aspect of Magic Man's example... --BLU Scoutgineer 01:42, October 30, 2011 (UTC)
- If that could be altered to be three boxes...the first saying: Please help uncyclopedia...
- second box: ...do things and make things better or delete stuff and... third box: ... awe forget it...just hit the x like everyone else.
- I thik like that it would be cool. Is that not something easy to do? Or am I overestimating how easy the software is the work with. --ShabiDOO 01:47, October 30, 2011 (UTC)
- BLU: That's just default now; doesn't appear unless it's in the sitenotice and the js is working.
- Shabidoo: That wouldn't work, sorry.
- Unrelatedly, I have arbitrarily decided that we shall use a slew of cats. You can't stop me! *charges off waving a sack of catnip*

Appeals
Appeals might be fun, too. I made this, but perhaps if we could have the page on random, or maybe even put a pile of them somewhere else and have the banners link to those... I dunno, maybe I'm getting carried away. What do you think? ~ 21:51, 30 October 2011
- The green box is totally helarious. The page also looks like the wiki donation page more or less. I'm not sure about the cat narrative though, its borderline cheesy IMHO. Would you consider turning it into a bug? That way you can play with the physical bug / technical bug (which ties into much of what you say in the white box. ? --ShabiDOO 23:29, October 30, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm confused... the green box is based entirely on the rest of it, as is the technicals box... and the entire thing is cat. Does that just not work at all, then?
~ 00:35, 31 October 2011
- I read the green box first, and I laughed (even though I didnt know what the subject was). I guess it means any character could be substituted and it would be funny. On the other hand, it's just my opinion. I just don't see it working with the cat...maybe other people do. --ShabiDOO 01:20, October 31, 2011 (UTC)
Okay, fellers, i've done mine. Tell me what you think. -- PLEB SIR Lollipop (TALK) - updated on 31 October 2011, at 02:08
I got ideas for banners
You know the "Please read" ones? The ones in Wikipedia has FIVE of them. We should respond with our own five: Sannse, Oscar Wilde, that guy who wrote about 40 Uncyclopedian featured articles, an Uncyclopedia researcher (read: an admin), and Jesus Christ. 01:43, October 31, 2011 (UTC)
Ah dammit
Do I actually have to so something.--- 02:46, October 31, 2011 (UTC)
Mmkay
Thank you to everyone who submitted banners. While only a few fit into the current 'campaign', your efforts are appreciated, and there may prove to be room for more variety later, depending on where Wikimedia goes with theirs. I'll try to keep y'all apprised as much as I have any idea what's going on myself, though that may not be saying much. ~ 17:10, 7 November 2011
