Greetings, chums. I speak on behalf an exiled user (NXWave), who would like to put his chequered past behind him and apologise for any misdemeanours. However, he is concerned that some of his contributions, in particular the audio files he created for UnNews, might impact negatively on his current and future endeavours. I am not at liberty to disclose anything further, but suffice to say it is serious enough for me to create a forum topic here for the first time in many years.

There are 34 audio files in total, mostly readings of UnNews articles, that NXWave would like removed. The full list can be provided upon request.

After much deliberation, we have decided that, in the interests of diplomacy, this matter be opened to public discussion. I would love to know your thoughts.

Please note this message has been cross-posted at the independent fork. -- Hindleyite Converse 11:21, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

I don't know NXWave, but I know of him, as one of the site's most notorious vandals and trolls. I can only assume he is running for public office and, like Obama aides hurriedly paying off parking tickets in Somerville, Mass., he needs to get to his past before his opponents do. Aimsplode has also been by, trying to send Forums to QVFD and more recently censoring other people's talk pages, so as to cover his tracks. My reaction would be that, with regrets, NXWave knew the rules. We don't delete stuff on the grounds that it would have been more helpful to the utteror never to have said it. Spıke Ѧ 11:32 5-Mar-13
Separately, Hindleyite: (1) Would you please move this Forum to give it a name more descriptive than, "For your consideration" as though other Forums weren't? (I'd do it myself, but Mordillo has returned and he'd scold me) and (2) would you please edit your signature to not divert traffic off-site? This was a rule that was espoused during the recent VFS. Regards audio files, I guess they are a bit different from other contributions and it is not like removing your comments from a forum or trying to unpick contributions from an article. I am not against it but the requester would have to identify the files himself to save time. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 12:00, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
Let me chime in and say that I've talked to NXWave in private conversations a number of times, and I assure you that he's sincerely remorseful for all his past dickery and all the drama he caused. He's most especially eaten alive with guilt about driving AE away. Contrary to Spike, he shouldn't he even be lumped in with Aimsplode. He's certainly not what you would call an asshole. To put it delicately, he's mentally eccentric and has somewhat inhibited social skills. Nor is he running for public office, but instead has found new homes around the Internet where he fits in. Meanwhile, he does still read Uncyclopedia regularly, despite being banned "and then some" until the heat death of the universe. All he asks is that we scrub the graffiti of his sins away to ease the pain. As someone who witnessed his infamy firsthand, as well as someone he trusts, I would appreciate it if you would all lend a shoulder of sympathy. -- Kip > Talk Works Sophia Commander of the Order USA! 12:28, Mar. 5, 2013
This has me interested in hearing a few of those readings. What could be so bad in them that he's running from his background? Maybe if he gives a list of specific recordings that are the worse of the bunch we can sit as a cross-island tribunal and listen to them before the dancing girls come to entertain. Aleister 12:38 that day (does this show up on both sites?)
p.s. Oh, and I'm not against it either. It's a reasonable request.
SPIKE, bugging users about the names of forums is stepping into micromanaging and it's rather over-authoritarian. --ShabiDOO 13:03, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
I also have no problem with it being deleted. --ShabiDOO 13:33, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
Like Spike, I never met NXWave personally. However, the admin who perma-banned him happened to come back recently. If you really want those audio files gone, perhaps you could redo the audio, or find someone else to redo it. --Mn-z 15:54, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Our New Policy regarding sig links

Due to people hard redirecting their user pages to the fork, sigs that only linked to other sites, and other obnoxious behavior, we have a policy against linking to other sites in signatures. This mirrors wikipedia's sig policy. Although the policy of often blamed on Wikia, it does have the support of the community that edits here. Basically, it is annoying jumping from one website to another, especially when both the websites looks the same. And, in 99% of cases in which I need to talk to someone regarding a website, I'll do it on the respective website, not somehere else. There is no rule against linking to the fork however, so long as you aren't being obnoxious about it. --Mn-z 15:36, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for that clarification. As you can see, the link to Illogicopedia is now gone from my sig so you don't have to worry about locking me in the brig for that. Just don't go poking around my magazine collection... *looks around shiftily* :P -- Hindleyite Converse 11:36, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

Topic title change

Just for those who decided not to read everything previously written, I went ahead and moved the page to a more descriptive title. I will give myself a tickle with the banstick for this misdemeanour. I have also added a link to the other discussion for ease of reference. -- Hindleyite Converse 11:36, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

You're going to ban yourself??? But thanks for the Move; this may save students of history a little work a year from now. Spıke Ѧ 12:04 8-Mar-13
Ah, it wouldn't be the first time. ;) -- Hindleyite Converse 14:07, March 11, 2013 (UTC)

New header, because

There is a significant difference between my request on the fork and this one. My request was made upon creation of the fork and relating solely to the fork. This request is made on two sites. (Potentially three, but nobody seems to remember the mirror.) My request also included a significant number of featured articles, which while I don't like the independent communities decision, I understand the rationale behind it on those grounds. These articles are not features, as far as I know, and are relating purely to audio recordings. The reason for the author request is very different, and the content under discussion is very different.

Our policy has been - on this wiki - to support author requests for deletion. Without a complete list of what we're agreeing to delete, however, this is a moot discussion. Give us a complete list - rather than a vague “stuff that he did” request, and we can look at it from a benefit/loss perspective.                               Puppy's talk page12:32 10 Mar 2013

As clarification, the author says he would like his audio files deleted because he feels like they bring down the quality of Uncyclopedia with the reputation of the user behind them. -- Hindleyite Converse 14:16, March 11, 2013 (UTC)

Files to be considered for deletion

Here's a list of everything. I'll make a point of adding it to the other discussion too.

-- Hindleyite Converse 14:16, March 11, 2013 (UTC)

These are mostly uninteligible. I will tag these during forestfire week next. --ShabiDOO

We have a forest fire? When did we decide on that?                               Puppy's talk page12:35 12 Mar 2013
We do not have a forest fire. We have adult management, and a well-known voting process that must be completed before an Uncyclopedian's work is deleted. I assume they are talking about the business on the imitation Uncyclopedia.
I give Hindleyite credit for asking our opinion. Three days ago, Rcmurphy was back in the house, implementing an "author request" (Where? Not here!) from perennial problem-child Aimsplode (That is his username here, not HGA) to delete his personal pages in violation of what I understand to be Uncyclopedia policy. I am trying hard to understand and implement that policy, even when fallen-away Admins, with no commitment nor ongoing contribution to this website, return to conduct raids.
I don't doubt that if all of the above MP3s were deleted, the average intelligence of the website would rise. Nevertheless, I believe that contributions are not deleted solely on the basis that the contributor has grown dissatisfied with them. Spıke Ѧ 12:55 12-Mar-13
Meh - little or no value. even the audio attached to features is not that fantastic a standard. If we go to a vote on this, my vote is Symbol for vote.svg for as we're losing nothing of value. But It'd have to go to vote, and tbh I'm too apathetic to start a vote on it myself.                               Puppy's talk page01:55 12 Mar 2013
Then I will take it there. Spıke Ѧ 14:10 12-Mar-13
Upon listening to these, they are almost unintelligible, as Shabidoo said. If you aren't paying attention to what is being said, it sounds like a mix of German and Sims banter. --Mn-z 17:59, March 12, 2013 (UTC)
This has nothing to do with policy or alterior motivations. They are terrible and the next time there is a forest fire week, I will tag these, if they haven't already been deleted which most of them should. --ShabiDOO 19:39, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

My two cents

As the admin who originally banned Nxwave (and most of his puppets) I'm sort of split here. On the one hand, as mentioned, he was one of the worse vandals we encountered and I don't see any big reason why we need to placate him. Also, I don't think it's normally something we do (mass deletion of user content because of such request) as well as I personally liked his audios (he was quite a popular audio maker back in the day) and I think it would be an actual loss to remove those audios. However, if he feels that these files will hamper him in life, we don't need to run an active vendetta against him and we can oblige this request. So my two cents- if enough people are happy to vote for that deletion, let's go ahead with it. I'm staying neutral on the matter. ~Jewriken.GIF 23:07, March 12, 2013 (UTC)
