Avatar can refer to many different things. Here are a few of them:

  • Avatar or Avatāra is a Hindu term for the manifestation or incarnation of a deity.[1]
  • Avatar, a film about giant smurfs defending their mushroom village sacred trees against human invaders.[2]
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender, an epic quasi-anime detailing the adventures of Aang, a bald kid destined to restore balance to the world by defeating giant asshole Ozai. M. Night Shyamalan is currently adapting the television series into a film trilogy, of which the first one is titled The Last Airbender.[3]
  • RMS Avatar, a spaceship infamous for crashing on its maiden voyage.[4]
  • Avatars can also refer to virtual representations of real people.[5]
